Lose one receiver, add another: Patriots reach agreement in principle on five-year deal with former Ram Danny Amendola, per league source.
Lol @ Pats taking all the receivers from the high powered Rams attack. Amendola is good but always injured.

The Patriots agreed to a 5-year deal with Danny Amendola, source says. 5 years, $31M. $10M guaranteed. Avg: $6.1
Wow. Lotta money for a guy that missed 20 games the past two seasons.

What are the Pats thinking? How is Amendola an improvement on Welker? Financially they both get the same per year, but its a better deal with Welker since it would have been only a 2 year contract and Welker has much better stats to boot.

not that i'm sold on amendola but age 27 versus 31 is definitely a factor.

when did Welker first hit 100 catches in a season with the Patriots? age 26

They get younger, but yeah 2/12 got it done for Welker ,and is far more durable. I don't get it. Why fix what wasn't broke, and bring in a guy making the same amount. Amendola is no slouch, but Welker is just a superior player.

consider who for the past 6 years has had tom brady to statistically contribute to his worth
Oh no question that helped, but why break it up? He didn't seem to be regressing. I'd feel safer giving Welker a 2 year deal, and his familiarity with Brady/offense, than a 5 year one to a fragile, unfamiliar player.

Amendola has barely started a season's worth of games in his last 4 years. He might be younger but he seems injury prone as shit. A better move would have been to sign Welker to a short deal for 2 years and play him until 2015 and then look for a replacement. I'm sure in the interim you could do a lot better than Danny Amendola for 5Y/31M. 31-33 years old isnt even that bad for a receiver, they start to taper off noticeably at 35-ish

More stupid personnel moves bound for failure from the laughable Patriots organization! We all know how this end! (In the playoffs.)

Laurent Robinson cut form the Jags. Now THAT would be a good pickup in Miami, can get him cheap because he's still recovering from a concussion and would fit the slot nicely. Send Devon Bess packing and blow draft picks on a RB/CB

raging from what?
Robinson is the product of having good chemistry with Romo when he was running for his life. The man was garbage before and after Dallas and only did well when Romo was running for his life. You're high to think he would be worth a shit now knowing his past combined with his uncertain future due to concussions.
