Orioles and Ravens share a parking lot, they can't hold the two events at the same time due to parking.
Last I heard they asked the Orioles to have their game earlier or something. I'm assuming Angelos said no, cause Angelos is an asshole...but the final release I saw from the Ravens thanked the Orioles for trying to accommodate them, so I don't know what the final story was.

It also might not help that the Ravens shit all over the Orioles last year saying that no one wanted to watch them anyway.

I would hope this is a fuck you to them.

Supposedly the O's offered to move it back to 4 PM but that wasn't enough. Being so close to the postseason MLB doesn't see it as fair to make either team play a double header or play an early game after a night game the day before or otherwise fuck with the schedule. The O's bascially shouldn't have games that day just in the off chance of a Ravens superbowl win. Of course that does seem a little extreme given how rare a superbowl win is for any team.

It was also floated to move the opener to Wednesday like they did with the Giants due to that Obama speech. However apparently Goodell and/or the Ravens found that disrespectful because that is the first day of Rosh Hashana. Seriously. The same league that plays every Sunday and on Christmas eve and even Christmas day.

Anyway, Azeth, yes we are going on the road to open and the Pats were one of the big teams speculated to be a potential matchup for the opener for obvious reasons. Others were anyone in our division, which would most likely mean Pittsburgh, and the Texans. I don't know if the home/away on Pats and Texans was already predetermined or not, I know our NFC north matchups are already set in terms of who is on the road and who's at home. The opener has almost always been a conference matchup since they started doing it this way with the SB winner. I thought Pittsburgh or NE were the obvious choices but now that we are going on the road I think it should be the Browns!!!!

Ravens play the Patriots and Texans in Baltimore this year. They play the Broncos in Denver, so that will probably be the opener.

Seems silly. Although frankly the whole uproar over it seems silly unless they're playing 9 road games to 7 home games this year, which I'm pretty sure won't be the case.

Well, gets a road game over with and still the extra weekend rest. But if its a loss with future playoff implications there will certainly be wringing of hands.

Also, we didn't get to do this the first time we won the superbowl either thanks to 9/11. Not that Ravens fansneedanother reason to engage in paranoid conspiracy theories about how the league and media hate us and are out to get us.

IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE THE BROWNS!!!!

When did they say that? Totally missed it.
Earlier in the season. I can't find it because anytime I google Ravens and Orioles in the same query, all I get is this fucking story. But they basically had an official communication (it may have been twitter) that said something about how no one gives a shit about watching the Orioles. They apologized afterwards, but it was pretty dicked up to shit on another pro sports team in the same city.

Edit: Apparently it wasn't during the season, but in April last year. It was also not nearly as bad as I remembered it being.

In fact, I'm embarassed I even brought it up now.

Raise your hand if you'd rather be cheering in THIS stadium than a baseball stadium today!

I wish they would do an early game, like noon. That would be an epic day, I'd definitely be down for both games.

Who cares, its not like the Ravens are going to the playoffs this season. Bengals are going to the playoffs while Ravens, Steelers and Browns will fight each other for the privilege of an 8-8 record.

3/4 of these teams are going to the playoffs next year i think. The Browns are not 1 of the 3

Last season I said only 2 out of the 3 of Cincy/Baltimore/Pitt was going to the playoffs, and that one would be Cincy. After seeing which of the other two fell into a downward spiral, I think that division end up almost identical to how it did last year. Cincy and Baltimore both go 10-6 again, this time Cincy wins tiebreaker for the division title (both still get into postseason). Pitt left out in the cold again at 8-8 once more...and Cleveland gets one game better at 6-10.
