I feel fairly confident in Manning breaking the TD's in a season record, which is 50(?) right now. The schedule is weak and the team is loaded. Just have to average a little over 3 td's a game and he's already got 7.

Next week is a big test for San Francisco. If they can manage to go into Seattle and win, that would be a huge statement. I am optimistic about the season, but I also understand the NFC is tough as shit this year. So while they looked great in week 1, there is still a lot of football to be played.

Except the Redskins. I hope we don't play any home playoff games. Fuck that field so hard in the ass.
Well you're away for week 17 again. If you are in the mix after week 15 hopefully little Danny would actually pony up to resod the field in time for the wild card round this time.

Niners got a good win and have the advantage of playing their tough games at home. Seattle just winning a 10am start time on the east coast was a statement imo. I still think the NFC West will come down to which team figures out the Rams. G.B. will probably be favored in every game from here on out and has a good chance to lock up home field advantage despite the loss.

I am not sure if I should be worried about the Niners run game or if G.B. really did just get a lot better at run defense this offseason.

I thought they came into the game looking to stop the run first, and get after Kaepernick second. Makes sense after how they got gashed wide open on the ground in the playoffs. The first step went well, the second not so much.

That last TD they scored was garbage and Dallas trying to run out the clock, put 5 minutes up on the clock and that drive wouldn't have happened like that, blah blah blah prevent defense.

It's definitely not a garbage TD when it gives the opposing team a chance at a win. Do less drugs and use more of your brain bro.

The running game(or lack thereof)and Asomugha's inability to cover Nelson, were my two big concerns.

The Giants burned Dallas for plays of 57 and 70 yards in the first half, and in the second half they had a 90 yard TD drive that took 3:23 and an 80 yards TD drive that took 3:11. On their final TD drive they went 80 yards in 1:39, but they used their last 2 time outs and were obviously passing on every down. They forced Eli to dump it down to the replacement RB or to the TE Myers on 8 of the 9 plays and made a tackle in bounds every time until the TD. Is it an ideal situation? No of course not. But when already up by 2 scores its better to trade everything but 10 seconds of game time and both of their time outs for one score than to risk Cruz or Nicks or Randle getting behind a "normal" defensive set and going 60-80 yards all at once and leaving tons of time and timeouts left. Despite it happening once in a blue moon, the odds of the kicking team getting an onsides kick (~20% chance on expected onside kicks) and then completing a ~55 yard hailmary play (< 2%) are so incredibly low that it isn't a mistake to play towards that as a defense. I believe that comes out with a .4% success rate, so once every 250 chances? So if every single game in a 256 game regular season came down to needing an onside kick and a hailmary you might see it happen once.

There's no way you can look at how the Cowboys played today and be optimistic about their season. Cowboys didn't win because they capitalized on mistakes and held theirs to a minimum. Cowboys won because they fucked up just a little less than the Giants. The wife and I both thought the game was a joke we expected to hear some Benny Hill music on half those replays.
The Cowboys getting six turnovers in one game gives one reason to be optimistic about their season. Yes, turnovers are generally random, but Wilson's two fumbles were both stripped. Which shows it is a key focus of the new defense. At least when you compare it to last year when the Cowboys only got 16 turnovers for the season.

Another thing to be optimistic about is that the Cowboys were either tied or had the lead for the entire game last night. This never happened in any game last season. Yes, it a lot closer than what it should have been. The usual Cowboys would have lost the game like what happened with the Lions in 2011. But the Cowboys won the game last night. Good thing style points does not count in the NFL.

I would also disagree with you saying they didn't win because they capitalized on the Giants mistakes and held theirs to a minimum. Because that is exactly what they did. Romo only had one int. That is keeping their mistakes to a minimum. The Cowboys returning two of the turnovers for touchdowns would be capitalizing on the Giants mistakes.

Same, and penalties were a huge issue too. The game shouldn't have been anywhere close, but the Niners kept beating themselves with stupid penalties (11 total in the game). It's a bit scary going into Seattle next week after how many delay of game and false starts they got at home. Same shit that was happening last year.

The damn delay of game penalties have been plaguing the Niners for years now. With Harbaugh it seems like it is due to all the shifting they do and the reads Kaep is making, but the delay of game issues date back before even Harbaugh and co. Even when they aren't getting penalties they are burning at least a time out a half due to it.

Seriously, you know you are going to do all this shifting and shit pre-snap, get your asses in and out of the huddle faster.

Fuck, that was my plan to replace David Wilson's -2 points in my fantasy line-up starting next week.

Guess he was wrong.

So many people giving them shit for going prevent. It worked, didn't it? The purpose isn't to stop the other team from scoring, just to make them eat a lot of clock while doing it.

Starting with the Giants getting the ball back with just under 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter (and them being down 17), the Giants had 3 TD drives the rest of the game totaling 8 minutes and 13 seconds of possession. I'm not sure you could say the prevent worked...the pick 6 to re-establish a 2 score lead when the Giants had the ball and a chance to take the lead is what really worked.

For ref the Giants had 2 other drives along with the 3 TD drives, one being the drive ended by the pick 6 obviously. Those 2 drives didn't even total 2 minutes.

Honestly Cowboys fans, were you worried when Eli was about to start driving down the field with a one score game and just enough time on the clock to punch one in for the win? I knew the game would end in one of two ways - Eli being a fucking magician in the 4th yet again, or some dumbass play (like a tip pick 6, for instance).

I really thought we would win, but that was a heads up play by the Cowboys defender and a mistake by a running back who never got real NFL playing time. Chalk it up to inexperience at the RB position, doesn't really matter - Cowboys won. Hopefully Giants learn from this and move forward, but the offensive line and linebacker play will haunt this team the entire season.
