If there are such things as "moral victories" in the NFL, this should probably be filed under a "moral defeat" by the Giants.I don't think I would be energized by this win if I was a Giant. Then again a drowning man is happy to grasp at straws.

Cassell was the 3rd stringer so I'm pretty sure he couldn't play unless one of the two in front of him got injured.I would have yanked him for Matt, or Ponder since they are determined not to use Matt.
Is that what the record viewership and profits indicates to you? Haven't you been saying the same thing for several years now even though the NFL has been exploding in popularity? The NFL is going downhill quickly.
Honest to God this was the extent of my conversation with a friend a couple weeks back:As a life long Chiefs fan, I've come to expect disappointment. I'm excited yet only cautiously optimistic.
Pretty sure he's a Redskins fan, so it's just going downhill quickly for him.Is that what the record viewership and profits indicates to you? Haven't you been saying the same thing for several years now even though the NFL has been exploding in popularity?
I can die a happy man if they win one Superbowl in my lifetime. I remember how angry my father was (he yelled at me for hours) after Lin Elliot missed 3 field goals in the '95 playoffs; I need resolution. I need closure...Honest to God this was the extent of my conversation with a friend a couple weeks back:
Me: Think they'll make it through the postseason?
Friend: Fuck no.
One of my buddies was disappointed though because now we're having trouble finishing board games and the like, since people are more enthused about actually watching the game then they have been in years. At some point we'd started bringing over games to play instead of just watching the game and I don't think we really noticed until another friend commented"You may as well stop even trying to get a game of X in on Sundays because you'll never finish now that the Chiefs are doing good".
ThoughFINALLYthere is something to talk about other than Sporting KC. I don't mind soccer but God damned I got tired of having my ear chewed off about how good they are doing at any given time.
My buddy almost got annihilated outside the bathroom for saying his name at the Ravens Playoff game a few years back. I just pretended I didn't know him and bought a beer.I can die a happy man if they win one Superbowl in my lifetime. And by downhill you mean in a free fall on fire.Pretty sure he's a Redskins fan, so it's just going downhill quickly for him.
I meant more the watering down of defense. There's obviously a large portion of the population that loves shootouts, but I'm not one of them. Part of that is all the rule changes. Not only are defensive players at a huge disadvantage (changes to pass interference, defenseless receivers, roughing the QB), but the league has added in so many rules that allow refs to swing games based on judgement calls. Is that what the record viewership and profits indicates to you?
