The owners really matter man. What’s happening at the Jets, Panthers, and Jaguars is criminal.

Honestly could toss in the Bengals at this point. Shit owners too.
I went to the very first ever Panther game, in Clemson , preseason game #1. Jerry Richardson was out at the stadium entrance shaking hands with fans thanking them for supporting the team. I forget what 'me too' offence made him have to sell the team but this new owner is just garbage.

He was always a terrible hire. And now with both him and Mayo being fired after one year (and Ron Carthon in TN after 2 years) all of the racist remarks are coming out. Of course nobody bats an eye about Pederson being fired in Jacksonville.

It's all so fucking tiresome.

Why would they trade him? Assuming they go w/ Darnold for the foreseeable future McCarthy price is basically nothing.

He’s coming off a major injury and might not even be good. Darnold has balled out. If you plan to sign him long term and can get a good return for McCarthy then why not. Niners did it with Lance after he broke his leg and had Purdy.

Because having a potentially good, and cheap, backup QB is a huge plus in the NFL. Just ask any team who has lost their starting QB.

Give him a year or 2, see if he is actually any good. Then make a decision long term.

Technically, this doesn't mean anything - MM's contract ends on Jan 14th, so the Cowboys don't have to decide anything (or grant interviews) until then - it doesn't necessarily mean the Cowboys are signing MM to a new contract.

Obviously, coaches (union, etc.) would frown upon the Cowboys keeping a coach in the dark, having him miss opportunities, if they had no plan to keep him, but the Cowboys also denied Jason Garrett chances to interview for HC positions for years as an assistant if I recall before not rehiring* him as an HC.

Edit: I forgot, Garrett wasn't fired either, Jerrah just didn't give him another contract.

Jets and Bears want to interview literally anyone that has the word coach in their title.

I'm not exactly his biggest fan, but I thought I had read that Pete Carroll had thrown his own name around for the Bears position a few weeks ago. Whether or not he would be right answer there I don't know, but I feel like talking to candidates of that caliber would make 10 times more sense than asking the Cowboys permission to interview McCarthy

They are interviewing Pete on Thursday. Personally, I hope they go for him. I think he can develop Caleb the best out of all of them. He's old, but he could set that franchise straight which hasn't been done for a VERY long time.

Maybe they were just exploring all options, I'd just be all over Carroll over wanting to talk to McCarthy. He'd at least build a good D to support Caleb as well. We saw what he managed to do with Russell Wilson in his prime.
