So you say.
I do say that the chemical process of cell division doesn't make you a person (and isn't what makes you a person), yes.

Is it easier to reconcile it with your morality if it is anonymous? If we give the fetus a name, does that make it more difficult for you?
If I name my big toe, does that make it a person? It's alive, after all. No, I don't care about that. I'm not saying that I have some solid grip on exactly when a person becomes a person, but I'm completely certain that it's not at conception. You can name a fertilized egg anything you want. That makes no difference to me.

Don't try to distance the fetus from humanity with this "chemical process of cell division" bullshit. EVERYTHING is a chemical process. So what?

Who cares when it "becomes a person?" It is always a person. When sperm meets egg, that is a "person". Why are you equivocating? It is what it is.

So we impart certain chemical processes with moral value based on attributes that don't apply at the level of cell division. That's what.

It is not always a person. That is ridiculous.

A zygote is not unequivocally a person. Come on, Chaos.

You could argue it's a human being, but 'person' has some implications about consciousness that we can easily argue aren't present at the moment of conception.

fetus is less deserving of life inside the woman's womb because they are not a person yet, which is just as arbitrary as any other philosophy/law/morality.

Person and human being are pretty much synonymous, to me. Yeah, you're right, there is no consciousness, hell no nervous system. But it is still a person, it is just a person at an earlier stage of development.

That's how I feel too.

Me, you, the President of the United States, newborn, a marine, a person in a vegetative state, someone who is terminally ill, a human zygote, all people, all persons, all human.

To anyone thinking clearly.

Well if it doesn't, then that's not a great reason to condemn people who get an abortion, now is it?
I don't know, is it? Who ever said that they condemned people who get abortions? Or that your specific definition of personhood factored into that?

Then your definition of "person" carries no moral weight.
It carries moral weight without being bound to specifics that should only define characteristics of a person.

edit: Also a zombie is NOT a person, but someone being mind-controlled by an alien or ghost or monster or demon is.
