Why did the baby come out white when both the mom and dad were brown? Head scratcher. Should have come out wearing a bandana with some gang tattoos and a low rider. But I guess technically it was the bad guy so they had to make it white.

So if the alien from the first movie turned into space shit rock does that mean the queen from aliens is an even bigger piece of space shit ?

People got onto AVP for the ridiculous quick face hugger to chestburster but this new movie beat that easily lol

The "Big Chap" in Alien was ejected from the Narcissus in the middle of nowhere, while the queen was ejected just above LV-426 and canonically burned in the upper atmosphere during reentry. If they absolutely want to bring back a queen, it would be more plausible to have the AvP queen survive the oceanic pressure in Antarctica since she probably would have molted into a cocoon like the Big Chap did in space to survive without oxygen and under tremendous pressure changes.

Honestly I don't mind that they have to go a little far-fetched to bring more Alien movies as long as the result is relatively satisfying.

Speaking of the Narcissus (Nostromo's escape shuttle), I saw a recent video that showed you can see the shuttle being ejected from Renaissance station in Romulus just before the station crashes in the planet's rings, meaning the Company did find Ripley's shuttle and the ejected Big Chap because they probably had a way to track it (it was the primary objective of the mission, known only to Ash), but the shuttle was automatically launched off Renaissance Station before its destruction and so Ripley drifted in space for another 50 years or so before being found at the beginning of Aliens.

I’m familiar with the avpgalaxy forum and their nicknames how they call the first predator anytime

Why is the first alien being called big chap?

- another eye roll to me and made me think of gremlins 2 ……since it was electrocuted it now had a spark/lightning permanently in its dome?

It was a nickname given to the xenomorph by the cast and crew of Alien, and the name stuck to become somewhat canonical.

The expression "little chap" is used sometimes to describe a baby, so since this baby grew to very large proportions quickly, they nicknamed it Big Chap.

I know I'm late to the party but fuck. This was bad in a way that I found really, really frustrating. All the money and effort on the film's aesthetics to populate most of the cast with uninteresting one or zero note stock horror movie characters? How about we cut out some of these action scenes for some character development or to tighten up the narrative? This could have been really great if it was primarily a character piece with Rayne and Andy and their arcs instead of doing all the action/horror shit. I spent the first hour of the movie desperately hoping Guy That's Mad About Synths would fucking die so I wouldn't have to listen to him to spend the last half hour bored.

It's better than Covenant by a lot and I'd say better than Promethus but this could have been great.

i know the director wanted to tie into Prometheus and Covenant more in a sort of "Clone Wars explains more what happened in the prequels" way, its kinda interesting to see younger directors run with 40+ year old franchises

someone else is doing Running man this year, i thought reboot fever was dying down but guess not

I still haven't watched it, but what have I been saying. It looks like a total turd. I'm sure one day I'll watch it on streaming, but I'm not chomping at the bit to do so. Just more Hollywood shit.

Better off going and rewatching the original trilogy, and reading some of the comics.

Aside from the spoilered bit with the android (looked like absolute ass and was an embarrasment) most of the set design and "look" of the movie was topnotch. Whoever designed the sets should legit be nominated for an academy award, it is too bad the rest of the movie wasn't up to the same standard.

Oh I don't disagree with the fact that the movie looks good, but so did Prometheus, and we all know that was a pile of shit.

And I guess I just have really high expectations for this IP, kind of like people do for stupid Star Wars, but aliens and Predator stuff is always been my jam, and this one just looks retarded.

I think this movie is basically the force awakens of the aliens franchise, or at least from what I've seen review wise and reading what you guys have been talking about.

You could tell they spent a lot of money everywhere except the cast. SFX were decent, like most alien films.

Ok I can give it a go that he can be called andy(e), but I don't understand how it was only 20 years after sigorney ejected the alien. And how do they know she ejected it if they are to find her 37 years later.

And how do they make a gun that is smarter with 4x the ammo of a pulse rifle? 40 years prior, it can't be experimental cuz some random junker kid knew exactly how to operate it
