Roanoke isn't really a mystery. Aboriginals were raiding and killing settlers in Jamestown from its inception. Roanoke was a smaller, less defensive settlement. Men were killed, women were taken. Any assimilation was forced.

One thing I wonder is how there were so many advanced civilizations in Mexico and South America, but none or very little evidence of any in North America. There had to have been some contact, but very little technology transfer.

I think that the silk road tech transfer was mostly finished physical goods where the benefit is immediately obvious and then you can backwards engineer or send for a guy to teach you.

The Mayan types had agricultural and earthworking technology which wouldn't transfer to other biomes as easily or be obvious what they did. I don't think that stuff usually went down silk road either, not like you saw Egyptian Pyramids anywhere else.

There is some evidence for cities. Not as large as those but still pretty sizable.

Because there was more travel to and from South America by advanced cultures of Polynesia than by the derptards coming across by stupid fucking landbridge bullshit

That cave has been alas closed to the public for as long as I live. But I did visit the copy and it is insane.

(and besides, the entire area is so nice to visit. If you want to visit France, but not conquered France, that's it)

This was cool.
"After days of riding through the desert, and facing thick sand, dunes and steep rocky mountain climbs - I am finally at the Richat Structure and able to ride straight through the Eye of the Sahara."

We did a family vacation to Playa del Carmen almost 10 years ago. Took day trips out to a bunch of the ruins/temples/etc. It was pretty awesome to see them in person, totally worth the trip if you're into that kind of stuff at all.
