She didn't.

She has, however, been consistently portrayed as an incompetent moron who would have been captured and executed for treason against the Empire if the crew of the Ghost hadn't rescued her, who would have led the Rebellion to failure if people hadn't defied her, and then led the New Republic to ruin by insisting on demilitarization.
I don't watch any of the cartoons, but if that's the case, then her incompetence would be the retcon, as she was simply a "female in a power role" as the leader of the rebel alliance in RoTJ.

Only one of those points is from a cartoon. She opposed the Scarif operation and it took a mutiny of the Rebellion's most senior ship captain to force her to support it, and her insistence on the demilitarization of the New Republic led to it's destruction by the First Order.

This looks okay but like, what's the fucking point? We know where it all ends up, we already saw Rogue One, it was mediocre at best.

Also, in before someone shoots a gate they could have walked around.

Rogue One asked the question "how did the rebels get the plans to the death star". I'm not sure it really needed to be answered, but I enjoyed it and the world building was great, especiallly around all the guardians of the jedi temple, khyber crystals (which power the death star and sabers), etc.

Solo asked the question "how did Han Solo get his name". No one fucking cares and the movie sucked.

Obi-Wan said "Ewan McGregor will replay his role for $30m, who gives a fuck about the story LETS DO IT also we need a black lady to show Star Wars isn't racist"

Andor is asking the question "How did the rebellion actually start?" Now, we've seen in it Rebels and bits and pieces in Rogue One, I don't think the few scenes in Revenge of the Sith or A New Hope (well established by then) really do much. So if its executed well I think it will be good. Thats of course a huge caveat nowadays.

I do have faith in Tony Gilroy, he started as a writer and has done some excellent work and apparently he has plotted out 5 seasons of story with some time movement in between each season so at least there is a plan. Prequels do have a much, much harder tight rope since we know the fates of most of the characters.

It would be interesting to see what motivated the Rebellion apart from the move from a democracy to a dictatorship - and what evil atrocities the Empire were committing post ROTS

these interviews never help. they dont get woke losers to watch and it drives the fans away. george lucas used Palpatine as an allegory for GWB in RotS

and now the same character is being used as an allegory for DJT. how fucking convenient this all is.
The series, as Shaw explained, offers a “scurrilous” take on a world where rights our disappearing, i.e. our own.

“Tony has written a great, scurrilous [take] on the Trumpian world,” said Shaw, an Emmy nominee for her performances in “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve.” “Our world is exploding in different places right now, people’s rights are disappearing, and ‘Andor’ reflects that. [In the show] the Empire is taking over, and it feels like the

So what? Why such concern over the opinion of some dopey actor reading words on a page?

It's a rebellion story. Anyone who's allowed their brain to devolve into framing everything into team politics can make that backdrop conform to whatever "side" they're on.

Empire = fascist Trump could just as easily be Empire = Biden and the Deep State. Both are fucking stupid, by the way, but people seem to love diving ass first into this nonsense.

I'm not attempting to claim that this show won't turn out to be a mountain of dogshit set on fire, but if I concerned myself with the political viewpoints of actors and writers and producers et al, which for some irritating reason they're encouraged to openly share, I wouldn't watch much of anything.

As long as they aren't breaking the fourth wall by way of a bunch of on-the-nose social commentary and actually roll out a good, compelling show, I don't really give a shit what sort of silliness they share on their Twitter feed or during some tedious interview.

Trumpsters are just mad they are mocking Trump. Its funny and ironic since politicians have been the inspiration behind every movie villain for how long now. Hell even Nazi's are still used.

they may be mad that they are injecting modern american politics in a movie that is set long ago in a galaxy far far away.

After the complete disappointment that Obi Wan was, I've just lost faith they could make a good story. Just not worth getting expectations up anymore

The Sith were based off Nazi Germany 30 years later. At least Trump is relevant. Everything is just a metaphor, get some thicker skin.

your anger is misplaced. maybe these actors/writers/etc should just shut the fuck up and stop injecting politics into everything? in the real world if you preemptively alienate half your customer base you fail. no one is imagining or "allowing their brain" to do anything.

I don't disagree with that at all, but they won't stop because it generates traffic, and it's also just as stupid to concern yourself with the opinions of these people, because if you don't, lo and behold, you can then take whatever you're watching at face value and "allow your brain" to form its own opinion and interpretations. If you wanted to, you could ruin just about anything that took a multitude of people to bring about, because most assuredly, you'd discover that some of those people were raging assholes.
