I was never going to play this because I have no real desire to put 100+ hrs into AC games but I caught some of the gameplay event.

Despite everything else in the game, the fact you're a gigantic black dude with an African accent speaking English running around feudal Japan just completely takes you out of any fantasy you might have gotten lost in. A truly absurd game.

The fun and compelling part was when the ninja was doing ninja things.

Major missed opportunity.

Giant black dude in samurai armor just walking through a village slaughtering a bunch of short Japanese guys with a sword that looks like it came from Elden Ring. Absolute masterpiece, not ridiculous at all.

i'm sure they are all meant to be speaking Japanese although now that I think about it, I wonder what the fuck they will do for the VA anyways. If you choose japanese as your language with subtitles, who will do the voice? Are there a ton of black VAs who speak flawless japanese? If they get a japanese man to voice the black guy, isn't that offensive in 2024? hahahaha

i'm just finishing up Mirage, ~30 hours in and near the end and enjoying it although just seeing the gameplay of this game you can tell its all been the same game for the past 5-6 games, just in different settings. I enjoy them as a way to explore a time and region, running around 9th century Baghdad is really fun and i love all the little lore things that teach you history in a fun way.

I'm sure shadows will be fun in that way but goddamn at least Mirage is immersive, i play as a brown dude in a brown city and its immersive as fuck. playing as a 7 foot black guy in a country that is 100% yellow men and women will just be so immersion breaking, it woulda been awesome if the game had every NPC just run screaming and yelling "BLACK DEMON! BLACK DEMON! RUN! RUN!" every time you walk around as Yasuke lol

Historically AC games haven't been very modable, but a mod that basically turns Yasuke into CJ from GTA:SA would be $$$. AI voice acting in 2024 makes this absolutely feasible from a voice acting standpoint.

this game is ghost of tsushima lite

the combat is the same horrible ac combat we've had for almost 15years, the kunoichi part is fine, a bit lackluster, its like they just copied tsushima and put boobs on it

you don't need to have the nog in this game, just make the entire game about the kunoichi, why does the nog have to be in here to nog up the game, his fight music is hip hop

As opposed to what? A Ubisoft unoriginal? It reeks of them trying to make it sound like some sort of high-class movie studio.

It could have been the most amazing game ever if they just fully learned into it and made the main character the most ghetto ass American Inventor who has ever American Inventored. I mean a American Inventor who would make Flavor Flave blush via embarrassment.

I don't know if "Assassin's Creed 14" counts but I'm supportive of studios making original games with original IP vs remakes. I imagine so few of the people responsible for the impressive games that were AC1, AC2, AC Black Flag etc that propelled the series to success are working on AC Shadows, but it's still the same studio.

its a warning like R-rating, it means the game is not unique or original in any way

kidding aside technically they are a publisher so it just means created by ubisoft studios, although i don't think they have published another devs game in a long time. maybe south park stick of truth was the last one, since really there's no reason to use a huge company like ubisoft to publish your indie game (they'd suck up all the profits)

like it seems they only used this dei band b/c they were local (this game is done by ubisoft quebec)

japan is not lacking in "new age" rock/pop mixing traditional music, could have chosen any better sounding bands.

wagakki? they still around the dude playing the shakuhachi (flute) is great
