I did like how you could defeat a lot of those bosses with DC checks. Beating the fat dude at the bar is easy with a monk because monks get an advantage against drunkness during that. Drunken Master monk will probably make that encounter a freebee lol

Yeah, all of the Thorms (well, except Ketheric) don't have to be fought. But I take great pleasure in shoving Gerringothe off the roof.

Honestly hearing about all the zany bullshit you can do in this game with exploding barrels and grapple carrying people and what not is what most has me looking forward to when i finally get the chance to play it.

Spider boss when you're lvl 3 is still the hardest fight in the game.

Only way I am able to kill the spider boss at low level is hope it paths onto the web bridges and then burn the bridges. The fall damage helps so much, especially if you can pull it off twice

Also fuck those little spiderlings - low HP but your AOE options are usually limited at low level

Yeah, you can sneak around and shoot or whatever to kill all the spider things they come from. No thanks.

The item you need for the necro tome you can use feather fall and sneak to get it and never fight any spiders, it's at the very bottom (not in the chasm).

...or you can do the fight the most lulz way and Gust of Wind the Broodmother into the hole into the Underdark! Then, when you get down into the Underdark, you can use the spore dude to resurrect the spider and make it your pet!

If you have any sort of fire magic/bombs and/or thunderwave, its actually pretty trivial to chimp that fight with falling damage. I found the Flind fight way more bullshit for the level you can stumble into it. Most of the harder fights in the game have a gimmick to them that makes them easier, ignoring silly wombo combo shit people do that would never fly in table top. Some fights you have to almost intentionally screw up side quests to get hard mode (e/g not taking down the factory before confronting the archduke).

Having played the game numerous times and on all difficulty modes, I think the undead dragon is probably the most consistently difficult fight for when you can tackle it. That may be my tendency to go with lighting setups since they are effective in pretty much all other parts of the game, but particularly on harder difficulties timing your burst DPS so that his invulnerability and fuck you AE don't rape you is tricky. Honorable mention goes out to Raphael, but the fact that (outside honor mode) you can land Hold Monster on him makes that fight a lot more forgiving.

Raphael on honor mode = runepowder barrel and globe of invulnerability. Easy peasy. You could probably do the dragon with a runepowder barrel too but I never had any issues with him doing just a normal beat down.

I've played this twice and not gone into the spider pit at all.
IDK how you could posisbly miss it. Its not the spider pit below the Goblin king guy its the in the town. You can drop down there through the well.

That's the thing. At lvl 3 you don't have a lot of this shit unless you planned for it and knew what was coming in advance.

Well it's a lvl 5 boss. I'd think most people wouldn't try it til level 5. And that's the exact level where you get fireball. Which kinda trivializes this encounter. Plus you get some tough ogre mercenaries literally a few steps away.

Yeah, you certainly wouldn't know to do it on the first playthrough unless you were following a guide. I didn't know about the lulz way until something like the 5th time going through chapter 1, but having the spider as a pet in the Underdark was pretty fun.

I don't think I ever held off on the spider until later, but it's been so long that I don't remember if it was the fight that gave me the most trouble. I seem to recall trying the Hag early, without see invis, and having to reload a bunch of times (in order to save the hostage).

I think the point was that through normal exploration, you can easily come across the spider boss early and a bunch of people chose to fight it at that time, for the challenge.
