Purely using the characters I haven't used yet. Other than Gale because I hate his gay ass more than the gay vampire.
I can't stand Wyll and Halsin.

It's a damn shame Minsc can't join the party earlier. "Go for the eyes, Boo!"

Minthara, Shadowheart, Minsc, Karlach, and Lae'Zel are the good characters.

Really the big failure of this game. In BG2 with all of my dozens of replays there's only 1 gay ass character I don't like. The whiney cunt paladin.

Played this game when it first came out but never finished it (loved Acts 1 and 2 but lost motivation to finish in 3).

Anyway, getting ready to make another run at it from the beginning with the following self imposed rules:

1. No multiclassing
2. No tadpole abilities

Anyone have any good 4 person group suggestions?

Was thinking Sorc (tav), Fighter (Laz), Monk (Ast), and Cleric (Shadow). Not sure about subclasses, so open to suggestions.

4 druids wildshaped into water myrmidons.

With 4 summoned water myrmidons.

Awesome aoe dmg plus icicle knockdown. Unlimited healing. Everyone can fly and teleport.

Karlach throwing Barabarian with Returning Pike. There's a feat for throwing and you can also throw barrels. Later you get an aoe throwing trident early in Act 3. Can subclass fighter and thief for more throws. Laezel can do this too.

Astarion Monk/Thief, give him the tadpole and evil choices.

Shadowheart... whatever Cleric, you need one but it's not OP any way you do it.

Tav as Dark Urge Smite Paladin/Bard. Get Smite from Paladin then extra spells from Bard.

You can Google the exact builds if you need extra guidance, respec is cheap from Withers.

Edit: I spellchecked my post and realised I broke all your rules lol. I'd do what I posted anyway without the multiclass extra moves.

Yeah haha tough not to multiclass. Game def rewards you for both MCing and doing tadpole.

Still going to try it straight up this time though. I got kind of crazy with respeccing/optimizing/item- centric building the first time.

I dunno shit about fire, I wouldn't be surprised if it's more raw damage. Cold is still excellent damage (especially because if you really want to tryhard you can splash water on people to give them cold vulnerability or take away cold resistance) and also has very good crowd control.

It's the other way around - the hat gives you a stacking bonus to all your spell DC when you use fire spells, so the scorching ray isn't for the damage, but to stack arcane acuity to the sky, at which point you can hit everything with almost unresistable CC.

I can see how scorching ray would stack it up quickly but I feel like I'd rather just target a weak save to begin with. It's not like you need to perfectly lock down every enemy in a battle, just break things up with a freeze or some knockdowns while also doing damage.

Just to get that one item you also need to play a certain way anyway. You can get by with any build in the game really.

This is how I did my first run.

I dislike multiclassing in general. Also don't like mindflayer larvae in my goddamn brain.

No, a quicken-spell upcast scorching ray will obliterate targets. Pair that with Coruscation Ring, Callous Glow Ring, and Spellsparkler for ridiculous damage.
