It was a mountain of Kryptonite. Superman's power level was retarded in that film.
it was a mountain of kryptonite? where's that even come from without it causing a world ending event? i knew there was kryptonite involved, i just don't remember it being the entire mountain... hmm.

WW was mega powered. I don't know her comic power level of power but wow...She seemed to kick more butt then superman and not even flinch at the hits....
SHE IS WARRIOR-BORN! but yeah, she very easily could have not been in the movie other than for the justice league tie in. i mean, KGBeast had more lines than her. (the dude with the flamethrower). speaking of him, how on EARTH do you give KGBeast, of ALL villians, more screen time than batman in costume. this movie was weird.

Lex robbed the fortress of solitude for some crazy Kryptonian technology Jor-el left for his son and was able to adapt it to create a giant island in the middle of the ocean. It would have killed billions of people if Supes hadn't lifted it into space.

We start off with 30 minutes of back flash origin story of "the bat from Gotham" but Superman everyone must have seen the previous movie but none of the Nolan Batman movies so he didn't get any back story.
The Nolan trilogy isn't part of this cinematic universe so we're going to get some amount of origin story retelling for Batman.

Because KGBeast is the best? Dude cut his hand off in the comics when he could have just cut a rope. Batman had to lock his ass in a cellar for an indeterminable amount of time before the cops could even begin to take him to jail.

But the reason why Wonder Woman had no lines is because she has a Dolf Lundgren in Master of the Universe grasp of the English Language.

Your hyperbole aside, wouldn't that be a little problematic in the upcoming movie that is all about her? I'm pretty sure if she can fill an entire movie, she could have had a few more in this one. This was just a bad movie from almost every angle.

Also, why you gotta diss on my boy Dolph's English?? Sine your pitty on the runny kine!

Right but there needs to be a certain level of common sense on what you need to tell people at this point when it comes to Batman.

You might as well retell the origin story of America every time a flag is shown in a movie.

Are they going to give a full rundown of Spider-mans origin for Civil War?

There is a huge difference between Masters of the Universe Dolf Lundgren and Universal Soldier Dolf Lundgren. Also see Arnold. She'll get there. You can't dub people anymore.

Don't get me started on this Wonder Woman movie. For all we know its going to be based on Amazons Attack!! or something.

To be honest I'm just watching this movie and I get it, the tone is dark because in the beginning the characters have reasons to distrust and dislike each other. Superman is taking heat from the events of MoS, a lot of powerful people don't like him because he's an all powerful alien, it makes sense people would be worried about his motives and at the same time he distrusts people because people are generally shitty anyway. So basically you have a Superman who is trying to do the right thing but apart from his girlfriend he has no connection with the world and no peers.

Batman starts off with a legitimate reason to dislike him.

WW hasn't been active for 100 years because of the aforementioned shitty people problem and is scoping out the scenario to see what's what.

I think it's a realistic way to kick-start the franchise, they wouldn't all meet up randomly for jelly and ice cream and instantly be best buds.

I really think the only problem with the movie is Batman's ears are too small.

This movie stunk from beginning to end, and I liked MoS.

Framing superman with bullets? Did superman just let the ?terrorists? who kidnaped Lois just drive way into the desert?

What was the point of blowing up the senators? To make batman even madder?

Best part of the movie hands down was the two point blank gunshots batman takes to the back of the head and shrugs it off with more punching.

WW was ok, but no idea why see was even there, good thing her plane was showing cnn when she was boarding..

I haven't seen BvS so I won't comment as to it whether or not they included too much of Batman's origin in it. You have to include enough of it to both establish him for those who have little concept of his origins (I know, there shouldn't be many people left who don't at this point) and to create a clear break from the Nolan films for those who have seen them so there is no ambiguity as to the events specific to those movies not being part of the current Batman's history.

As for Spider-man in Civil War, no we probably won't get a lot of his origin story. CW was already well into production by the time Tom Holland was cast to play him so his amount of screen time is expected to be quite small. Plus there will be a stand alone Spider-man next year if they feel it's necessary to go through all of that again.

What do you mean? What has been different with any of the movie Batman origins? Other than minor details here and there? Val kilmer mentions specifically that bats scare him, so that's why he picked the bat motif, to conquer his fear and use that fear on others. BvS origin showed Thomas actually try to fight back. But it's ALWAYS been Thomas and Martha Wayne gunned down in an alley in front of young Bruce after the mask of Zorro. Nothing about that scenario has ever changed.

Disagree. The origin story has been the same for all versions, and there's no reason to shove the 500th retelling down everyone's throats because there's theoretically 1 guy out there that doesn't know it.

Yeah, there is just so much of this movie that is wasted screen time. It feels like it was all there for a reason, but the reason cut out because the runtime was too long

I didn't really hate this movie except for one thing. Jesse Eisenberg was fucking awful. What the fuck was that jolly rancher scene. Lex Luthor isn't a fucking clown. Fuck that guy sucks.

The story is both Lex and the Joker were going to appear in the film, and they combined them in the end.

I didn't mind it, the whole universe is an alternative version of the DC history

I get that. But that's not the main reason to have some amount of origin included. A lot of movie goers are not going to be aware that the Affleck Batman isn't simply a continuation of the Bale Batman. You include enough to show it's a reboot and that he didn't simply come out of retirement and return to fighting crime with a recast actor.

Totally.

People need to understand that the characters in the movie haven't been going since the 1930's.

A lot of the shit in comics doesn't make sense in a live action movie and would be corny or just unrealistic.

I think one of the major issues of BvS is MoS. It seems the studio likes Cavil, so they shoehorned this into his existing movie universe. If you want a Superman who is torn by emotions and what he can and/or should do that's fine. But after destroying Metropolis you've kind of tied your hands. They spent so much time apologizing for MoS it took away from the current story. Superman is just so depressing it was almost a relief when he 'dies.' And I'm not using spoiler tags. If you haven't seen it, it's your own fault for being in this thread.

Going forward, you could bring him back with a new attitude and lighten it up a bit. The color palette needs work going forward as well. I'm 100% on board with Marvel, but DC can make this work. I doubt with Snyder, but it's not dead. I'd start with getting someone like Kevin Feige to run the show across the board.

yeah. like Superman is just an immigrant, who lives the American dream of truth, justice, and can do attitude. god that is so silly.
Superman can only work as Jesus. New gods are devils, and angels.
