Don't mount to your handlebar, it'll be herky jerky as all hell. Helmet mounts are where it's at, IMO, as it'll be a much stabler, clearer picture. Even a chest mount when biking sucks, as your perspective between standing up and sitting will change drastically. Although I guess it all depends on what you're trying to record. I find for downhill mountain biking and skiing that a helmet mount is by far the best.
So I just did a test run at the track today and I did a helmet mount cause I didn't want anything on my bars. It turned out terrible, jerky as hell but it's kind of the problem with track riding since it's an all out effort. I'm gonna keep playing with it but I think frame mount is the best.

Ah yeah, my bad! I thought you were wanting to mount it for trail/downhill riding, not road/track (which I have zero experience with).

That "under the seat pointing rearwards" style actually seems the most stable to me but its a less desirable vantage point in many ways than the first person point of view.
I have a GroPro 2 and mounted it under the seat on my DH bike. It lasted a whole 2 minutes before the wheel ripped it off.
My own fault really, I find the helmet mount and chest mount the best.
Also putting the chest strap on backwards is good when someone is chasing you.

This is the chainstay mount that I was talking about for road biking, I don't think it would work for downhill/single track stuff. I like it cause it let's you get perspective of legs and a good view of everything around the bike. This was my commute into work today.

Someone told me it can be cool for mountain biking mounted on the downtube facing forward pointed out over the top of the front wheel since there's a gap there with a suspension fork. I don't actually even own a GoPro so this is all second hand from me.

Picked up a new bike last Thursday via craigslist. After viewing quite a few in person, I fell in love with this after a short ride. It is a Gary Fisher Cronus 2010 Full Carbon Frame with a 105 groupset. It rides really smooth and Ive put about 60 miles on it since Friday. The only problem I am having is my fatass getting back into shape.

Cool, not something you'll see everyday and now GF as a standalone brand is defunct. They were always more known for the mountain line so having a road bike is nice and unusual.

How much?

$1,000 and I was happy to pay it. Guy had the original receipt for 3200 and the bike clearly had been used very little.

PERUSING CL a guy a town over has an iron horse downhill expert 2003 for 250 bucks(retail was like 2500 or so). way too much bike for what i want unfortunately, i am looking at CL for a good deal for something that was in the 500-1k range for under 200.

got this app called map my ride and it tracked the course i did perfectly, 2.87 miles in 16 minutes 48 seconds (about 4 minutes of it walking btw- i couldn't make it up the hill at the end of the ride - 6% grade for about 1/3rd mile) recorded an elevation change of 112 feet going to use this to track all my riding since i will have my phone on me anyway. bought a cell phone pack and its otw to be delivered and some riding shorts for the extra padding. also was going to see if i could make a bike cam out of an old droid eris phone...

just bought a pair of knickers (swrve Midweight Regular Fit Knickers) I'm hoping they aren't too warm for summer riding. Trying them on, they're a lot longer on me (as I wear a 38) than on pictures, which finally puts into my mind that the people who normally buy this shit aren't in the same fat-guy club I am in.

for me, 34 waist. i am just using lightweight cargo style shorts with cycling underwear under. i'm not looking to be stylish, just comfortable riding. plus my kids get to make fun of my funny looking black underwear... weather's been crap for the past few days so kids are disappointed with no long bike ride(our goal is 6 miles next time out) this weekend, i've done the stationary bike for ~20 minutes every other day while waiting for no rain...

Cyclists aren't known for their tummy bulges, except for the middle aged man weaving all over the road on his aerobars.

Doesn't it get pretty fucking hot and humid in the midwest in summer? Why would you need knickers?

I want one pair I can wear year-round. I'm sure during July/August I'll wear shorts, but for the rest of the time I'm hoping I can wear just the knickers or the knickers plus something else.

Where's the best place to shop around for bibs and jerseys these days? I'm losing weight pretty quickly and need to find some new apparel.

Amazon is the best place for any biking accessories that I've seen.

I got a chest mount this week and tried it out for the first time a couple days ago. So far it seems quite a bit more stable than the helmet mount, but I don't know if seeing handle bars is a good view for you on a street bike. It's probably gonna be a bit bumpy no matter where you mount it. Worth checking out though. I got this one on Amazon for like $8 and it works just fine:

Amazon
Performance bikes
Bike nashbar,
Bikesomewhere
Walmart(online only though they have other stores affiliated and can use your Walmart card or billmelater)

Amazon though IMO has the most options/affiliates to choose from)

Lost about 3 lbs riding in the past 2 weeks. Do short 2 ish mile rides from house, and done a few 6 mile rides with kids(mostly spinning, since they go about 10 mph)

Son wants clip pedals now, he just got cycling shoes for the first time(he will be 13 in a few months) so a nabbed a single side set last night from Amazon for30( I use the same pedal)

Can catch some "year old" jerseys from TwinSix's trunk/discount area. They have discount codes on Facebook occasionally too. twinsix.com

Been doing about 20k on my mountainbike (mostly flat area). I know I could do another 20k lap, but my ass is killing me after the first ride. I have purchased a cushy seat, but it's not cutting it. I have never bought into cycling clothes at all but am considering those padded shorts. Any advice?
