It's cheaper to cut 4oz of body mass...

also 4oz is 0.25 pounds.
Why worry about kg/watts or VO2max, that's hard. Just open that wallet and make your bike lighter.

All ready for track season now with the new wheels, just need a to pick up a 51 or 52t chainring and maybe a 13t cog for some manly sprints/keirins.

I wonder how much time the "weight-weenie" critics in this thread spent min-maxing a character in a video game. Or paid way too much to have the absolute best video card just to play WoW.

The more people that need to replace parts every year, the better. It lets people like me scoop up minimal wear items for half the cost
Jokes on you, I don't see any fruity anodized rainbow parts on your bike, so you didn't get any of mine!

Just really started training for my Italy tour this past weekend. Did Mt. Tamalpais (2400+ foot elevation gain/23 miles total) in a little under two hours. I am getting really nervous for all the hills in Tuscany, lol.

What do you guys do for hill training? Just riding them a bunch? Can I pack weight in a trailer to try and get a bit better at them?

I mainly do hill repeats on a fixed gear in a rather large gearing with stupidly heavy wheels so kind of the same thing.

For me, I love training on my heavy wheels (3000+ gram set) cause when I throw on normal wheels it feels like youre in a lighter gear.

Riding them a bunch. I'd also recommend spin classes as well and pushing yourself to using higher resistance.

Ugh I hated the spin classes. The fucking bikes suck and I hate having to adjust them.

Speaking of adjusting... how did you get your bikes fit? Did you just slowly tweak it, or go to a shop, or go to a fit expert for it? How much did it cost?

I would recommend getting a professional bike fit. They should cost no more than $300 with average being about $200. Your feet, knees, and hips will thank you later.

And once you figure out your preferred adjustment on a spin bike, it's easy peazy. :p

Just make sure to get the fit numbers(stack, reach, pedal length etc) so that way if you ever get new parts/bikes you can replicate the fit.

Spin classes are dumb, just get a set of rollers and do your own spinning without the horrible music and learning how to hold a straight line.

This man is correct. I did it at the end of last season and really, really wished I hadn't waited so long. Mine ran $250 and I got a PDF with all of the assorted measurements at the end. The only thing i had to buy was a slightly longer stem. Totally worth it.

As far as hills - just do hill repeats. They're a rite of passage. (Unless you live somewhere crazy stupid flat, then I have no idea!)

You can fit your bike yourself, just need patience and a bit of reading. Its not that hard to figure out. Most annoying thing to me is continual adjustments to the handlebars until they are right.

I need to get my bike fitted, my hips and legs are fine but my shoulder (right one only for some reason) and wrists hurt after about an hour on the bike.

Going to agree on either getting a professional bike fit or doing a very well researched one yourself.

For Mt. Biking I have never had an issue with bike fit. But my knee damn near gave out in the last 10 miles of the STP a couple of year ago and it was 100% a bike fit issue, one that I didn't even notice was happening for 190ish miles...
