game looks awesome, and I really like the travel features. Questing is lame and that stupid turd spirit is also lame.

I deployed for a month and came back, everyone had tri boss armor, kzarka, new boss offhands. I was still running around in pri and duo shit tier gear. saw it would take grinding 48 hours every 24 just to catch up. The alleged p2w patch was anything but. I'd gladly swipe a hundred bucks or so to not have to spend every waking moment grinding. Instead it you got like 5 hours of grinding per week worth of gold.

I was wondering if I might ask, is the social aspect an important component of why you keep playing?
On a scale of 0 to 10 how sociable is this game in your opinion?

Surprisingly I play this game as if it's a Single Player Game. Social part is probably 0 or 1; I almost always solo grind or attend my workers, train my horses, gather crap and enhance my armor. In this game you can always progress a little bit every day and it takes a long time to see your character steadily (slowly but surely) becoming stronger and stronger. It doesn't end easy that's why you keep playing; not level cap and it's almost impossible to get BiS gear fully enhanced. So, it's hard to get this feeling of beating the game. Since you can always progress someway or another (whether by grinding or collecting money) you can avoid burn outs quite easily. Got bored with grinding? you can still progress doing life skills until you feel you want to kill stuff again. Not to mention PvP which I hardly do.

Same here. The game in its current state is much different than it was at release. I got a Valk up to 51 during the first two months, then quit after being ganked one too many times in Abandoned Monastery. Came back a few months later after the Musa / Maehwa were released and fell in love with the Maehwa playstyle, been playing casually ever since. Leveling has become quite easy up to 56 where it slows down. With all the events that have been going on, even gearing up is a lot less aggravating. Its all about planning for failure so you can recover quicker.

There is a server merge on the 30th, all the NA servers will become one server, and all the EU servers will become one; each with 36 channels. This will have more impact on the Guilds, and with so many channels, I doubt it will ever interrupt any grinding I feel like doing. Fun times.

Gah, thats all I need. More PVPers in my PVE...sigh. Just hit lvl 55 last week, still grinding. At this point its just the motions, working on getting +3 crafting armor.

I don't expect much to change. There's 2-3 big fish on each server right now, with maybe 2-3 almost big fish. With 36 channels, the competition will be spread out for the grind spots, which have actually opened up a bit since they added high value accessory drops to the Valencia camps. Might be some initial growing pains to suss out where the big fish are going to end up as their "home" server, but us peons will mostly be safe, especially on the sub channels.

Gotcha, I get a random A-hole here and there but by no means do I get even close to any of the grindy spots. Would be nice to see more stuff on the markets though. Some of the items I have been getting myself or having to up the preorders just to complete.

Exact same thing happened to me like 2 nights ago. I even reinstalled but have still yet to play.. it's really tempting but I completely forgot bigger inventory costs money and that annoys me enough to not want to play.

I've been back into this for a month or so and I am having a lot of fun.

I'm playing casual though, and mostly just solo, or duo with a friend.

I do whatever I feel like with no particular care about progression...I'll get there eventually. :)

Yeah, BD has some incredible elements to it. Some of it's systems are the best in the industry imo.

Unfortunately, the grind to be competitive in PvP is just too much. But I still play the game off and on for the other elements. Love the combat. I also like the crafting, fishing, general questing, etc. It's just cool. So every couple of months I log in for a few days and mess around. Or just look at the beautiful scenery.

BD is honestly everything I've wanted in an MMO for a long time, it's the perfect MMO to me. But I'm not that interested in PvP so whats the point really? Trading and crafting are my jam and I feel like that game nailed it.

I think it's more trying to mend wounds and get subscribers back after the previous video he made. I doubt he gives a fuck one way or another about the game being worth playing or not

Going to give this a shot, at least for the free week. Anyone have a server suggestion?

There is only one server so you can't worry about screwing it up. There are 2 or 3 channels at the very very top that are meant for beginner players and have something like a constant 100-200% XP rate.

I'm playing casual though, and mostly just solo, or duo with a friend.

That's the way to do it, I'm playing to experience the world not be the 1% of 1%.

Too many people approach the game like a sprint now and don't get that the people playing since day 1 will, in most circumstances, wreck them in every aspect of the game.

Play like you are just having fun and experiencing the world and you are golden.

Are Sorcs good again? I've been debating starting back up but I didn't have much fun on my ranger, it just wasn't the same as my sorc who I loved. Now that allt he awakenings are out and stuff, are sorcs back to the way they were (strong solo 1v1ers)?

Edit: Alternatively, does the ranger awakening give a playstyle similar to the way sorcs used to be (pve and pvp wise)?

I played a Wizard for awhile and quit some time last summer. My gear was decent then (210/250), but I haven't a clue where I would stand now. My infrastructure was pretty good too as all of my workers were Artisan, etc. I both loved and hated this game. It has so many fantastic elements, but I absolutely LOATHE how punishing the gear system is. That, and there's just no real end game besides PvP.

I installed the last update, but I haven't bothered to play. Are Wizards more/less fun now?

Wizard with awakening is a blast, it's very powerful without having to do crazy animation cancel combos

Playing a bit, forgot how fuckin fun Giants are. Gonna try a warrior though cause why not? leveling in this game is kinda enjoyable.

I still have no desire to pvp at all, but I love the rest of the game still.
