Even before the pandemic, Ms. Johansson was concerned that “Black Widow” could end up on Disney+ as part of its wide release. In 2019, Ms. Johansson’s representatives reached out to Marvel seeking assurance that “Black Widow” would have a theatrical-only release, according to the complaint.

In a March 2019 email included in the suit, Marvel Chief Counsel Dave Galluzzi said the release would be according to a traditional theatrical model, adding, “We understand that should the plan change, we would need to discuss this with you and come to an understanding as the deal is based on a series of (very large) box office bonuses.” [....]

According to the complaint, Ms. Johansson’s representatives sought to renegotiate her contract after learning of the dual-release strategy for “Black Widow,” which she has said is her ninth and last Marvel movie. Disney and Marvel were unresponsive, the suit said.
Bets on whether that guy will still have a job? Disney is trying to keep 100% of streaming revenue and claim they're not part of the box office.

She saw no cut of the Disney+ release despite her contract having a huge box office portion.

Disney refused to make themselves available to renegotiate her contract. Pretty good comeup by the Mouse doing smart business. They robbed her naked. The movie wasn't worth paying her big bucks.

she was dead for good 2 years ago. they could have contrived her back the way they did with Gamora, but for whatever reason, they wanted her out. its why they made her take a backseat in her own film.
Pretty obvious why they did it now.

the mouse replies: "fuck you!"

probably get settled out of court, disney can't back down though because currently they keep ALL the money from streaming (subs and single pay) unlike theatrical or VOD or streaming rights and they DO NOT want to give that up in any shape or form. Opening the crack even a tiny bit is just not a move they can allow.

Thats why Netflix, Apple, HBO Max, Amazon, etc are all fighting the streaming wars, the money eclipses movie box office by orders of magnitude

thats some nice virtue signaling. how dare she want her contractually owed money during this terrible pandemic!?
what really scares them is having to publicly disclose their D+ numbers and that could fuck their stocks right in the ass.

that dumb bitch should have had streaming revenue cut in her contract just like the box office one. This ain't fucking 1996 where the internet was just "a fad". Jesus christ, who fucking writes these contracts. But since she's so stupid, I wonder if she'd let me jerk off into her morning coffee and then film her drink it? It's just standard movie stuff

Toy Story 4" director and "Inside Out" writer Josh Cooley is writing the screenplay. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
"Tower of Terror," a popular elevator-drop ride at Disneyland initially based on Rod Serling's anthology series "The Twilight Zone," takes place at the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel. First opened in 1994, the Tower of Terror ride was revamped in 2017 as a Marvel Studios attraction called "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!"

The "Tower of Terror" movie, which has been in development since 2015, previously had a treatment by John August that centered on five people in a posh hotel who take an elevator and disappear after it's hit by lightning. Previously, a 1997 TV movie based on the attraction starred Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst.

Johansson will produce "Tower of Terror" via her These Pictures banner alongside Jonathan Lia.

Disney really fucked her and possible did a breach off contract by releasing to stream simultaneously. She definitely have a good court case,i f the contract specified the movie will have theatrical exclusivity, which the movie did not had.

The rumblings of Emma Stone possibly suing Disney come from former THR editor Matt Belloni's What I'm Hearing... newsletter. In the newsletter, he reports, "Emma Stone, star of Cruella, is said to be weighing her options." Belloni also named Emily Blunt as another big-name star who may speak out regarding Jungle Cruise also being offered simultaneously in theaters and Disney+ Premier Access, similar to Black Widow and Cruella.
Well now you look even stupider, Disney.

All I am gonna say is when you make your total living in the Hollywood Entertainment industry, you better understand taking on the Mouse can be bad for your continued career.

yeah there are a couple sides here and we won't know whats going on until the court drama plays out. Disney said a while back that they let the production team for a movie "decide" the release system, and Cruella, Black Widow, and Jungle Cruise all decided to go theatrical + D+ premiere simultaneous, while Shang Chi and Eternals are theatrical only.

Now everyone is backtracking and the stars are saying they were not consulted, the OG promises were theatrical only and they are not getting a cut of any of the D+ $30 premiere money. Which, if true, is kinda fucked. It'd be like someone selling subs to read our great FOH posts and none of us getting a cut.

Its possible there is some crafty Jew in the middle here who told Disney they are negotiating for Scarlet (etc) and yeah, they are totally cool with a D+ release as long as they get $5m and they will give half to Scarlet, trust them. Its possible Disney figured these stars won't make a fuss so they screwed them. Its possible the agents took their own hush money and now its blowing up on them.

Probably some mix of it all, maybe Hollywood needed someone like Harvey Weinstein to keep (almost) everyone happy. Sure, he rapes, but he also keeps the trains running on time.

Remind me who owns ABC News again?
Nooo, the preeminent media company in the world would never tell their major news/broadcasting subsidiary to look the other way on bad press! They would also never use their influence and contacts within the news world to bury such a story either!
