Chalice dungeons do drop a lot of echoes, especially at depth 4 and higher, but I think NG+ does drop more just because it's so much easier and you can plow through more low level mobs before you reach a boss. Just last night I was in Forbidden Woods on NG+, I went from the beginning to the building with the dude that turns into a werewolf....didn't go the poison pool route....ended up with 400,000+ echoes. Went down to the basement, opened up the gate back the the beginning lamp, and went back to town. Of course at this point 400,000 only gets me 3 levels, but the echoes definitely is flowing heavily. I am running triple Moon runes.
Pretty sure when I finally killed Ebrias tonight I celebrated more then when I got Father G when I first started. Kind of sad im almost done the game
You think From may update chalice dungeons to add content while we await a yearly DLC or some shit? They laid the groundwork it almost seems like that was their intention from the beginning.
Definitely wouldve loved 10+ more bosses ala Dark Souls 2 just cuz I love this game so much.

LOL, yes - stuff like the "Shadows" at the end of Mensis are like 15k a kill and those pigs, 40k I think - boss kills? I think around a half million with stacked XP runes for the later ones, like 200k for most of the early ones.

damn the chalice dungeons get crazy hard as you get further in, don't they. doing the series for the platinum and i'm up to ailing loran (for the queens chalice) and it probably took me 20-30 tries to kill just the first boss, she's a total one hit killer. hope the rest get easier, if i can finish it and the other one i'll just have the final few bosses left for the plat.

Strategy guide sold out on day one from Amazon. Kinda crazy - I pre-ordered the day it was available for pre-release on Amazon, and I guess I'm still in a waiting line. buuuuuuuuullllshiiiiiiiit. Every FROM fan musta picked one up as well.

Yea, it was an unusually hard zone for me too - layout is just terribly annoying, no one thing is particularly tricky (besides the Frenzy things) but the combo is challenging to get used to.

Once you unlock the first shortcut it get significantly easier, at least for me.

I'm 45+ hours, level 85 or so currently going through a depth 3 pthumerian chalice and all other bosses dead except for Ebrietas. Haven't used my ailing loran chalice yet.its crazy how many hours i have in this game compared to other people, i think im at 35+ hours now mostly cuz i die a lot

I did a loop on the bottom part of mergos loft that netted me around 65k souls in 7-8 minutes per run. Take the lamp in, take the big lift up to the room with the little guys, run by them to the spiders and kill all of them. Go out door, kill those two giants with visceral attacks (with rune that gives more echoes for v kills.). Kill the next giant outright, he will be attacking you. V. Kill the next giant. Kill the snake thing and the stupid worms that jump out when it dies. Kill the next guy the same way. The next guy is the same, but you can kill with V. Kill. Loop back around towards where the lamp, there will be two giants next to each other. If you sneak up you can get a V. Attack off on one as the second starts to attack you, but the V. Attack will push both of them off the ledge, giving the v. Kill bonus for both. V. Kill the last giant and you are back at the ramp, and you should have anywhere from 60-75k depending on your runes. Was taking me about 7 minutes per run.
Obviously once you open up the higher depth chalice dungeons you can get echoes faster.

i probably spent 6 hours today in just chalice dungeons doing the platinum trophy stuff. the last two chalice dungeons (cursed and ihyl?) are just insane, the bosses are all OHKs. If anyone gets stuck just post here what boss, I had to look up youtube videos on the correct strats for many of them. They are all massive damage sponges too so needs pretty flawless play, the good thing is level doesn't really matter as much as just not fucking up and getting hit too much. Some guys are just pros at this shit, I saw videos of level 4s doing some of them and not getting hit once in a 15 minute fight. I pretty much used up all my vials every single fight and most were 10-25 attempts before a kill.
Only very last secret boss left and I got the platinum, great game took me about 50 hours total according to the save file.
edit: just got the plat 1 shot on both last bosses, they are a total joke compared to chalice bosses. Awesome game, although i don't want to touch a souls game now for a year.
So my kids between them managed to loss my disk, they are blaming the 1 year old but who knows. Trying to decided if I like the game that much to spend ?55 on it again.
I was only up to witches which give you the holy tool thing to equip runes level 30 somthing, but the game was fun. Only thing I never like was the lack of weapon choices. I have been using the same weapon since the start and only found 2 other weapons both of which were shit compared to the starting weapon
