Being skill-based is a big part of what makes it so good though. Str weapons are gimpy because str does jack shit for visceral damage. Plus every single move the burial blade has is at least a 1.0x damage multiplier.
P.S. Anyone who decides to use the burial blade for chalice dungeons or NG+, do NOT upgrade the generic one. Go get an uncanny instead, it has the correct gem sockets.

Accidentally removed my Depth 5 chalice (hit down on the d-pad and x, forgetting that doesn't take me to the last bell, but removes it) and I was on the third floor.

I farmed the shit out of Hemwick Lane -> Witches Abode (take the gate shortcut). You'll get healing potions from the big ogre guys 3-4 at a time, and 1 sometimes from the crazy sluts in the woods.

The second time you visit the nightmare and the Shadows of Yahrnam are trash mobs, that's a really good place to farm... but that's pretty much the end of the game. Depth 4 chalices start to be pretty good with Moon Heir Heir (have to make an effort to Visceral for max blood).
If you just want vials and not blood echoes, best path in the game is the great bridge, kill the ogre and two were wolves, jump down to the path that takes you to the elevator to Gascoigne, kill the two ogres next to the elevator, then hunter's mark to reset without loading into the dream. Farm til you've got as many as you desire. You'll get between 10-15 vials each run. With loading times it's like 4 mins.

Got Ebrietas down. Finally got 15 arcane and now trying to think of what to level. Should I be doing skill at this point?

Are you using Ludwigs? I think generally you want to go 25str/25skill and then go from there. If I were you I'd pump up skill to 25.
Ebrietas I heard a lot of people had a very hard time with, I 2 or 3-shotted her and didn't know what the big deal was. Of course... I got stuck on the last boss for like 50 attempts

If you guys think Burial Blade is better, I will go for that since I'm doing chalice dungeons now. But yes, I am using Ludwig's currently.
Do I need to actually open up the chalice dungeon in order to use someone's glyph? Or can I actually get summoned into their dungeon if they are playing as well?
edit: I don't think I was high enough level to fight her when I initially found her. The boss before her (Emissary) was so much easier...I think it was just a shock. Hah.

Full stop on str unless you have a really good reason (the nerf cannon is no longer worth using, in case you were taking it to 30 just for that). Skill is superior for Ludwig, and vastly superior for burial blade. You should take skill all the way to 50 before looking at str again.
Re: Chalice dungeons, you cannot use a glyph that you haven't opened yourself. There's no way around farming all the materials at least once. What you want to do is open a root dungeon with all possible offerings. That way you can use any glyph for that particular root dungeon you find in the internet that is guaranteed to have the item(s) you want in it. The first one costs materials, the ones you open with glyphs are free.

I struggled with story mode Ebriatas for a ridiculous amount of time (and this was back when every time you went down that elevator had a chance of it bugging out) and then one-shot the chalice one that is much harder. Thought that was really bizarre.
There is a chalice mode Ebriatas? fml...good thing I'm experimenting with non lube anal on myself. She was a real pain for me

Yeah, skill to 50 unless you feel you need more hp or stamina.
For Ludwig and Burial Blade, physical% gems always. Preferably cursed ones that have a negative that is of little consequence. I keep an hp regen one in my pistol, since it stays active even when you 2H your trick weapon.
