You will have enough materials to upgrade them all to +9 by the end if you want
Without random drops there isn't even enough chunks to upgrade three weapons to +9, let alone all of them. Farming chunks is horrible if you need more than that, and adding them to chalice dungeons is just a nice bonus. It's still not viable for collecting 16 of them in a reasonable amount of time, compared to the old spots.

Rocks are limited to four, plus an additional one for each NG+x completion.

I know you guys mentioned it before...can't remember the page. What should I be leveling in?

edit: I am having an absolute field day trying to find Alfred and dying to those gigantic fucking bastards after Gasciogne. And fuck the frenzy death trap.

I don't remember chunks being all that rare, but I admit I haven't been on in awhile. The rocks are limited like you said. Of course that all changes with the patch

Vitality and endurance, with enough str/skl to equip the weapons you want. Once you hit the soft cap for the first two I would invest in str and skill until soft cap, then some arcane to use the various toys you find.

What are the soft caps for Vit/Str/Skl? I know End stops giving you stamina at 40.

There are really multiple for each stat. Vitality drops off after 30 a bit and then nosedives after 50.

Str and skl both start reducing after 25 but tank hard at 50.

I would recommend at least getting those stats to the first drop off. Endurance after 40 doesn't give stamina like you said

Vit slows down at 30, drops off at 50. 40+ is overkill though, imo.

Str/Skl at 25 each have 0.5 scaling multiplier. At 50, 0.85 multiplier. For a weapon like Ludwig which scales equally with str and skill, always raise both to 25 and then raise skill exclusively because visceral attacks scale pretty much linearly with skill all the way to 50. All str gets you is the cannon at 30, and that got nerfed badly in a previous patch.

VIT is easily the king stat and the best reward for the points spent since it also adds defense and bloodvials heal health percentage, so more is more. IMO 50 is definately a goal, especially if you like to play PvP.

I find it hard to run out of END, might even consider leaving it at something like 10 to 20 tops. The other stats are worth playing around with to fit your likings, depening on which weapon you prefer. But at the beginning i would shoot for the minimum requirements and rather level up the weapons with the most fun moveset to something like 6 which is easy enough and a lot more effective.

Thanks guys. I think I was putting stuff into Vitality and Strength. Will focus on Vitality and Endurance for now.

Holy shat this game is addicting. Level 31 now, just helped Eileen kill Henryk and used resonating bell to kill a boss I hadn't even seen yet (Vicar). I think there were two player characters that were hostile in the map and we killed them. Got so many blood echoes, lol.

Is there a particular armor set that you guys would recommend? I have like four sets now: Gascoigne, Church, Yamarghn (or whatever), and the Hunter Set.

Usually swap armor depending on boss.

Only thing this game is missing is a real Co-op mode. The bell works for its intended purpose but sometimes you just want to roll through things with a friend that might need help playing and not deal with the bells limitations.

I wore the hunter set that had the hat and coat straight out of Brotherhood of the Wolf for about half the game, then the Cainhurst set for the rest. Charred hunter or Henryk's on a couple special occasions where fire or bolt resist was useful.

Co-op should be easier now that there's no level restriction on passworded games, but I assume it still kicks out the helper(s) every time you kill a boss, which makes co-op in chalice dungeons irritating.

Agreed on that one. A co-op would be amazing.

Yeah, it kicked us out right after we killed Vicar.

Just ordered this online from Best Buy, not sure if it's GCU exclusive but it's on a promotional sale for $31.99 (PS4).

I had to have someone do all of the hurting on Dark Beast Paarl because for some reason, I could not hit the damned thing with oil nor molotovs. Sometimes I wonder if I should just stop using the threaded cane.

Threaded cane is a good weapon, but it's basically pure skill and you said you were putting points in str/vit and didn't mention skill at all...

I would go with Ludwigs sword personally. Staggers everything and scales great with both str and skill (and arcane if that's your jazz)

You also fought paarl really early, he's pretty rough when you first encounter him. I saved him until much later in the game.
