I think the most shocking thing to me about this entire bombing is the fact they stuck around and one of them even went to a party, used the gym, etc. I really hope the guy talks, just so we know what their thought process was in all this. How did they think it was all going to go down?

I don't think either one ever expected to survive or escape. I haven't been watching what national news has been saying much since their capture, but the Boston police commissioner and a few other officials have said on local news quite a few times that they have confiscated and blew up a substantial stockpile of various bombs and explosives. They knew they were going to get caught and killed eventually, but their intention seemed to be to kill and maim as many people as possible. The marathon was only the first of many intended attacks. Maybe they were waiting to see if the heat would die down to a point where people would be out again so they could maximize carnage (Almost everything in Boston was closed after the bombings though including sporting events).

As for walking around in public and using the gym, why not? These people mostly gave zero fucks, knew they were going to die, and probably didn't care when it was going to happen as long as they got the chance to hurt more people. On top of that, they really didn't have any additional cause for concern earlier on given that the FBI was unable to identify the two suspects and the internet/media detectives were blaming all the wrong people (Saudi national, two high school students, ect).

As for finding out the truth, we actually might get many answers eventually. Reports right now say whitehat is awake and answering the FBI's questions via writing.

Haha, great link, never played farmville and I hate all that social gaming shit but I'm sure I've got some sunken cost fallacy example in my life.

all would suggest a more simple spree killing.

I kindof doubt there were really any terrorist ties at all here. This seems more akin to the highway shootings.

They probably both thought they would get away with it. It was immediately upon their pictures being put out to the media that they went into Boston for their final plan. We don't know their true motives of course at this time, but there is a lot of speculation that they went into Boston with their explosives to do some more damage. The fact that things escalated rather quickly and how they handled it shows that they did want to inflict maximum damage.

I assume the 19-year old went back to school and was just going to live on for awhile until the next attack.

We had a vigil on Tuesday last week and some people on campus wonder if he went to it. That would be a kick in the pants.

Also on the radio this morning they were talking about the third pressure cooker found in one of the apartments. Speculation arising that possibly there was supposed to be a 3rd bomber on that day that may have backed out.

And of course.. their mother is Lumie-batshit insane. That woman... ugh. I can't stand listening to her scream into the phone any longer.

No thread is about what we think it is anymore, hence me linking the article. Glad people liked it and it sparked some discussion.

You've got to be a huge pussy to wish for prison. If you're not going to do something about your shitty life, I'd rather you just kill yourself so I don't have to pay for your 3 squares a day.

Why go to prison to do nothing? Drop your job, get into the social safety net and learn to scrape by. It'll be nicer than prison and more importantly, if you ever grow some balls and decide to live, you could actually go out and do something.

I remember some guy I EQed with played an impossible number of hours and I assumed he was a college kid ignoring classes. Found out later that he applied for disability with a really dubious condition and got just enough money to feed himself, get an internet connection and pay for EQ. He could have just as easily got a library card and checked out a never-ending series of books.

Point is, there are better alternatives for being a lazy drain on society than dreaming of a supermax, you crybaby aspies. Now go out there and learn to scam the system properly.
