I think he was just pointing out that we can't and then writing about other things which can be done and are done. It's a little bit confusing because he's being overtly and overly sympathetic to an irrational and implausible impulse which I honestly question if anyone actually had for more than two seconds before figuring out for themselves what a dumbfuck idea it was to begin with.

It leaves me wondering if he's that dumb, or if he thinks his readers are, or his readers actually are, or if all of the above.

Exactly. Like, why is that even a conversation? Is this "journalist" doing great works, keeping the public informed about the improbability of pressure cookers being banned? What was the fucking point?
