I saw some article a few years back about how boxer were hitting their "prime" years later and later. Like ~30ish was what they were saying at the time. I can't find it now, wish I could, but it was pretty convincing. Tons of examples and explanations about how that seemed to be where they had the best convergence of speed/stamina/skills/smarts.Canelo-Kirkland is going to see a knock out. Both dudes like to throw them! lol Its going to be interesting. Canelo is like 24 now. He's about to hit his prime in the next year or so. Should be a fun fight.
There was a vaguely similar one about MMA, though more about the end of their primes, showing that it wasn't so much age as just ring time really. After 9 years as a prothe fighters seem to hit the wall.
Not to say Canelo won't hit his prime for another 6 years or anything, he started so young, just reminded me of the thing.
Anyone else remember the manufactured controversy at the time about how Douglas was down for 12 seconds etc when Tyson knocked him down in he 8th? Did anyone else totally cling to that for years and years as an excuse for Tyson and kind of blame his entire downfall on a bad count from the ref? I remember it was a very long time before I accepted reality on that one=PThe Buster Douglas fight goes down as one of the top upsets
