I think Canelo rolls over cotto. It's too bad the Gomez-Soto fight was canceled. That was going to be a bloodbath and would have elevated the card even more.

Next week. GGG and Chocalito! Solid card.

Kirkland really that bad? Dude looked like he had no skills aside from willing to let himself get beat brain-dead.

From my ignorant standpoint as a dirty casual, it was a guy with a brand new, unproven and unknown trainer (so they said), who has been in and out of jail, being completely out classed and beat in a match that seemed like it shouldn't have ever been made. To the point Alvarez looked genuinely concerned and disturbed at the end of the fight. Was still entertaining in that "you got knocked the fuck out!" youtube clip sort of way, but not what I would describe as fight of the year unless you're into wife-beating.

Alvarez showed a ton of skills and patience in a fight he probably could have won earlier if he gave up on fundamentals and just started street fighting (maybe that's the one shot Kirkland was hoping for). I guess I'll watch Alvarez next time and hope the fight is a bit more evenly matched, because I'm not the hugest fan of watching one guy get so outclassed it's concerning. Maybe I'm just a pussy, these days, though.

Kirkland was a top guy with some really solid wins under him. His year off didn't help tho. Canelo just a rising star who's getting better with each fight.

Floyd wooped his ass. That fight last night was a joke.

again. Lets get this straight. Floyd does NOT whooop anyones ass, he wins! Floyd hasnt beaten anyones ass since Ricky Hatton! After a floyd fight most fighters are ready for Family pictures on Sunday.

I used to like boxing when it was exciting, is this Canelo dude good enough to follow for a few years? Might watch his old fights if so.

Kinda like MMA, all the boredom eventually drove me from the sport.

Lots of great fights to catch up on. Cant go wrong with him but I'd highly recommend GGG

He's good but not sure he's really worth digging up like that. As mentioned GGG is good shit though.

4.4 millions PPV buys for the fight. Breaks the record by almost double. Gate numbers generated $72.1M from 16,219 tickets

Canelo did like 2.2 millions views last week on HBO. that's a really good number. Boxing is dead!

Oh shit, Rerolled has a boxing thread.

If you're interested in entertainment, Gennady Golovkin fights tonight on HBO. Dude is the baddest dude in boxing. Definitely clearing out a path as one of the best middleweights to ever fight. He will get Canelo eventually and trash Canelo. Canelo is a badass as well, and there is no shame is losing to Floyd as a fellow counter puncher, but he isn't Golovkin/Kovalev good.

The new wave of Eastern European fighters are world class athletes, as where most of ours play the big 3 sports. Can't go wrong with Vasyl Lomachenko/Gennady Golovkin/Sergey Kovalev/Artur Beterbiev etc...

^^. Agreed. We are entering an awesome era for boxing. People need to get in now and enjoy.

Anyone who doesn't know who roman Gonzalez is, will know tonight. Dude is a beast and so entertaining to watch.

Roman is a stud, the apprentice of the great Alexis Arguello. I think he is getting ranked a little TOO highly on P4P lists at this exact moment just because some of the really low weights under feather don't have the greatest depth of talent. That being said, when Gonzalez & Naoya Inoue fight, that will be an incredible fight. Those two guys really stand out from the rest of the under-118 lbs club.

In a perfect world Cotto will get past Geale (Geale is a real solid fighter, and a larger man) and setup a late year Canelo-Cotto fight. K2 & HBO will finally pony up/Lara stays true to his word and they can make a late year GGG/Lara fight. Little mini-tourney with the winners squaring off in middle of next year for a legitimate action packed super fight.

With the obvious eventual Ward vs. Golovkin mega fight.

Canelo-cotto is already a done deal. It was agreed on as a prerequisite to the cotto-Geale fight. HBO wanted it that way because they wanted cotto-Canelo to happen last week. Either way, I don't mind the build up and Geale is a solid guy. He was rolled over by GGG but who isn't?

GGG-Ward is definitely a mega fight. I think the real money maker will be GGG-Canelo tho. That's a huge fight. It's funny, remember all that talk about ward wanting to move up to light heavy.? He pumped the brakes on that once Kovalev showed up lol. Not that I blame him, but he'd be wise to wait for GGG as you said, at that point it should be 2 lineal champs going at it. That's not something you see often.
