What Leto said. There are some units that'll outright solo mecha gods. I've heard Feeva can, and I bet Deimos can. Unfortunately, they'll do it sloooowly.

Actually, I remember my Luka (6*, max imped almost) being able to solo them with her lead + some dead friend lead that synergized well with her arsenal.

But yeah, they're hard. They can wipe out (almost) a squad of 120's if you do something stupid like switch to the wrong squad and forget to sphere any of them, choose a friend at random and auto it. Not like I did that or anything... (...)


edit: Unless the 7k xp you get from one will level you up, I'd hold off for now. At your level, you're best served leveling up as much as you can.

I've made 0% progress. Every attempt can be summed up with "some bullshit happens, unit dies from full health through mitigation, squad eventually wipes"

Yeah, pretty much same here. Haven't even made it to final boss -and I'm using the same fucking team I used before- since I last reported. Sefia and Kikuri are close to 100% success now, as is the slime dude. After that, it's frustratingly random. Especially 28 and 29.

Was just looking over the much-hyped upcoming Glyph batch, and man, I have a new most-wanted unit in that batch....and it isn't even Glyph or Roa

If you don't get a new mitigator before then Doc, we are both gonna be pulling for that new Light mitigator Krantz. Holy hell he looks completely awesome....Attacks at every level, Adds LIght/Dark on both BB/SBB....BB has a Status Cure...SBB has a heal...and of course mitigation everywhere.

What a great combination of skills He'd completely replace 2 characters I've been running in Squad 1 vs Xie'Jing...letting me put in a higher DPS unit in the saved spot.


Glyph seems a tad overhyped imo - yes he is technically an upgrade over Reis, and yes, that will make him the top crit unit in the game - but if anyone already had a Reis and they didn't need the elemental type change (had a Quaid or whatever) then Glyph is almost a carbon-copy. He IS better by virtue of the type-change, don't get me wrong, but other than that, nothing the game doesn't already have in Reis. (and Iris of the same batch gets the same water/fire retyping to boot)

Iris's most notable effect is +earth/fire mitigation on the BB/SBB, which is interesting at least, while not being terribly exciting.

Rivera with her Rec to ATK conversion makes a damn interesting companion for Tridon and all his Rec boosting....that and her +BC when attacked leaves her poised to bump Kikuri out of some groups.

Roa, to oversimplify things, is Raaga but with +30% HP stapled on the front with a few extras tossed in for good measure (at the cost of a bit of DPS.) Going to be a pretty solid lead there.

Kafka is remarkably underwhelming and unless I'm missing something, doesn't bring the same oomph some of her batch-mates bring to the table....Gobs of status infliction and light/dark retyping, but not a whole lot else to write home about.


Interesting that they had some sort of elemental re-typing theme going on with this batch....2 units with fire/water, 2 with thunder/earth and 2 with light/dark.....

...and without a doubt, Krantz has shot up to the top of my most-desired list. He is going to be awesome, but almost exclusively a sub unit, so its a "get him yourself or bust" situation. Not like some of the better units recently that do just as good or even better as a leader which makes them easy to find on the friends lists.

I can't see myself trying to summon for Krantz outside a good rate-up though. Besides a yolo with a summon ticket here or there, I'm not summoning for anything outside a good rate-up...feels like a bloody waste of gems most of the time even DURING a rate-up.......so figure less than a month before we see these units for the first time, but closer to two months before I'm gonna be trying to get that sweet new mitigator.

Yeah, I need Krantz so badly it's ridiculous. I'd gladly take an Edea, too, though. With either, I'd be able to remove Deimos from lead, banish Shera from my squad and use units I've never been able to slot before.

I really like Kafka, but then I really like Balgran. And Kafka's ES is just...wow.

That batch seemsdamngood. The only one I don't really have any interest in is Iris. Rivera is, as you said, interesting, and I'd love to get her, but I feel like we're reaching a saturation point in this BC on hit SBB. There's just a lot of killer units that have it, and if it's the primary benefit of your SBB you've got some stiff competition.

Roa looks awesome, but pretty boring compared to the rest of the batch.

Krantz, Glypth and Kafka (and probably in that order) are the units that most interest me, but 5 of 6 look pretty damn awesome.

Aaaand Frontier Gate done after probably 15 tries! My only regret is that that shit ever existed.Not. Fun.Spend 10 minutes getting to floor 21, 15 more minutes getting to floor 26, several minutes on 26, 3 to 5 on 27, maybe 3 on 28, around 5 on 29, contending all the way with atrocious RNG - shit beats your units down to 20%, game over if they get attacked twice after that (even with Deimos unless you triggered both his SBB and Elimo's SBB and are under the effects of both) and pray you've got at least 1 Fujin remaining for the final fight. Otherwise, start again!

edit: pretty pumped. First time I've beaten hard content that could be considered current besides raids.

Ya, for me, Krantz is number 1 by a long shot, but Glyph, and Roa are both most welcome to join my roster any time they like

The thing about Rivera is this..........Aurelia might be coming out about that same time (I don't profess to know when she is being released, other than she's somewhere in the pipeline.)....It will (might?) be a choice between Defense or ATK for Rec, but Aurelia's rate at 6-star surpasses Riveras at 7-star.... really no telling what Aurelia will bring to the table as a 7-star but my anticipation is damn high....both are situated to take great advantage of Tridons massive +Rec buffing.

For her and the other remaining SBS units for that matter.....if Tridon is Famous, Hadaron is Infamous - understandably, people have very mixed feelings about his 7-star, but Gumi, knowing that units history, I think will pull out some stops to make him desirable again.

I'm just as hyped for yet-to-be-released 7-star global exclusives as I am for the BFJP originals....or maybe I'm just spoiled with how Tridon turned out lol

Heh, thanks. Got pretty fucking desperate at the end. So impatient that instead of waiting like 3 hours I blew a gem for Imp Parade once I was within 11k of leveling. Stupid, but I didn't even wanna try that shit again without maxing at least the hp and def of any non-Anima, yet-to-be-maxxed units I intended to use. I pretty much knew that if I didn't make any progress I was just gonna give up on it and let it expire, miss the sphere, and be pissed off about it for the rest of my existence.

If nothing else, I imagine Shera will be sitting pretty at 7-stars. Ragshelm could make real comeback too, he was pretty beefy for a 6-star of his time. (My Reeze is an Oracle, so I hope this unit suuuuucks lol)

I have none of those at all. A Shida 7-star could be spooky. I expect Zelnite might get a rate-up between now and whenever, so maybe I'll be able to pick one up before I am old and gray.

I expect all of these are months off yet though.

IMO an Imp Parade is the one exception about spending a gem anyway....no regrets.

...But you are the trailblazer on this one....you gotta spill the beans... What was your group? what bonuses did you use? any tips, etc?




I have some strong units that serve me well, but my problem in Frontier Gate and Xie'Jing and some other places like that is that I have some *weak* ass links too. I've been having real trouble putting together a group without glaringly weak links.

I know you want an Edea, and I know Unit >>>> Type, but my Oracle Edea is fuckin' frustrating. I'll bitch about Oracles from time to time, but this is the first time Oracle has ever kept me from actually using a unit (and yea, I STILL don't use her - anywhere). I can either go with a mitigator with 6.2k HP's (with her unique sphere that at least part of her Extra Skill depends on), or throw on a Malice Jewel or somesuch to bump her up to 8.1k HP (which is fine in _most_ places), but then I drop from +70% Defense to +30%, costing me over 500 Defense and if I go with something other than her unique sphere I lose the unique defensive advantages that come with it (nulls critical hits + elemental damage)....and I can't even do shit with the secondary sphere slot because if I'm using her as a status curer, I need her invulnerable to status ailments.

I could drop a shitton of Imps on her, but it takes 30 friggin' HP imps to max her HP's, and even max-imp'd with her unique sphere + refined gem + oracle typing, her HP's would still be below par. I don't actually have very many characters max imp'd (and at least one of those was a complete and utter waste), so I have to pick-and-chose where I want to put them. I'd rather Imp out a character I like and I use and I enjoy (and has a future) rather than one that pisses me off and will still be less-than great on the otherside.

So I guess that part of it is my fault....Edea looked amazing on paper, but her design + oracle typing is a really frustrating combination....way above and beyond typical oracles. Sorry, didn't intend to turn this into a rant - just face planted in Frontier Gate as I was typing this and it put me in a mood heh.

I have to figure out how to work around the weaker characters on my roster if I want to keep doing the good stuff.

I'm just letting my brain churn away at this mess while I get other things done.

I'll start by saying that there was no team configuration that I could make work without a Zenia friend. The LS is of course OP, but her Bb (not sbb) synergizes extremely well with Elimo's low cost bb and sbb.

I pretty much had to have Elimo pop her SBB enough to ALWAYS have the 140 defense buff up at all times. Zenia helped, but it wasn't enough and sometimes her bb wasn't filled. So I threw in Medina. Now, if EITHER had their bb available, it was likely that they could fill the other. So they both pretty much got their bb every turn and Elimo pretty much got her SBB every turn because she got filled by both.

I only had one spot available for a damage dealer, so it was the haddest to determine. I'd tried Ruby, Claire and Dion, but once I figured out just how fucking integral Zenia was to my chances Ruby seemed the obvious choice. She had 5k attack with a duel fragment and fallacy - pretty good for balanced, non-otko spheres - and worked well with Zenia's LS.

The final three slots never chaged - Balgran, Elimo and Deimos (leas). Deimoz was only useful on fight 30 because he took all he DOTs. Beyond that, I think Grah would have been better - I'm just lazy and haven't done the gq yet.

The three static members were paradoxically the ones I'd have liked to replace if I had better alternatives. Balgran was dead weight outside of two or three encounters, I could have gotten around using Elimo if I had an Edea and Deimos if i had a Grah or Tridon.

So, if you're not interested in wall of text: Deimos lead, Balgran, Elimo, Ruby, Medina, Zenia friend.

Beating it with that team reminds me of why I love this game, though. Looked at what other people have used and never saw a Medina or Ruby, but they appeared to me at least to be the most perfect fits, at least for what I had at my disposal.

Tldr: instant bb manipulation was what finally worked for me.

Also gonna add that anyone who has their own Zenia has many, many more options by using her as a sub, adding bulk with a Bestie friend and removing altogether the need for Medina, thereby freeing up another slot.

29 is by far the hardest imo. It's all rng. I won becuse for once that asshole didn't focus on a single unit repeatedly and I didn't have to use any items. The damage was also distributed such that i was able to poke it to death and have sbb gauges mostly full for the next dude, whereupon I Zenia ubb'd the fuck out of him. Was your Zenia, btw, Leto.
