Yes you were, in every form of media that glamorizes and glorifies the pursuit of and carrying out of sex. The media is part of our culture. It not only reflects our thoughts but actively shapes how we think. Everything from the "nerd who wins over the heart of the reluctant hottie through perseverance" trope to the constant emphasis on the sex lives of protagonists tells us that if we're not getting laid, we're doing it wrong.

"That's the media! I can tell fiction from reality, thank you very much."
Sure, fine. Doesn't mean it's not affecting how you think, whether or not you realize it. Also, some people clearly take messages like that to heart, like our friends Elliot Rodger and Trollface. Dismissing them as "exceptions" instead of acknowledging how and why they got fucked up is ignorant and counterproductive.

"So I guess all the violence in the media is training us to be killers, right?"
It is immature and unfair to compare taking somebody's life to needing to get laid in order to feel valid. On the other hand, considering how many innocent people the US government can kill without Americans batting an eye, it's entirely possible that yes, you are being trained to accept killing as natural and inevitable. However, this is not what we're talking about, and I'd appreciate if you stayed on topic.

"Unrelated point based on misinterpretation of what was read!"
Yes, well, here we go again, then.

Patriarchy entails a society where the rules are primarily decided by men. Since the vast majority of both wealth and positions of power are held by men, this would make our society a patriarchy.

Actually, I've been exceptionally patient. I've explained and re-explained things, even when faced with the repeated and intentional bastardization of my points. And when I do get through by wording something in a way you guys can't play word-twisting games with, I'm promptly ignored and the subject is changed. But, like usual, I'm talking to a wall here. You guys just read what you want to read, not what is written. It's working pretty well for you so far, in that you never have to acknowledge when somebody makes a valid point you are uncomfortable with, but it sure as hell isn't winning you any points as reasonable debaters.
Unsubstantiated, pseudo-scientific horseshit. I cannot believe how arrogant you are. People like you are ruining the political left, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Right, men do that to themselves. They aren't being manipulated into anything.
I've watched it happen to friends. Both of them were friends... so I'd get it in both fucking ears. Him complaining about being friendzoned and her complaining about... well, I dunno. That part of my brain that listens turns itself off when women speak. But she was complaining about something! I could always tell when he'd pissed her off, because she'd start flirting with me for a few days. She was not COMPLETELY innocent. I'd asked her on a date myself about a week after knowing her (she was very pretty) and she told me she already had a boyfriend. So I just go "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize. That's something that I really should have known before asking, isn't it?" and started walking away. I dunno why I apologize for asking you if you wanna go get some coffee, but I do. And as I'm walking away she goes, "Well... maybe". That literally forced a laugh out of me (a nervous laugh maybe) and I told her, "No. There is no maybe." And then I really did feel like crap for about a day... and then I didn't anymore. So I guess then, whenever she was feeling rejected by men... she'd start flirting with me. Or something. Who the fuck knows. What a pair of fuckheads. And that WILL fuck with a certain type of man.

They're both still friends, and they're both still fuckheads. And he finally listened to me and stopped buying her shit.

I've been friendzoned twice in my life. No thanks. Never again. Never forget.

I don't get the friend zone thing. It happened once to me and then I was like "nope, this is exactly not what I want" and walked away. I flat out told her I wasn't going to spend time with her because she was being selfish by advancing the relationship to get what she wanted (emotional intimacy) but not wanting to 'get involved', ie have a real relationship. Took her 8 months but she finally called me and said I was right. To this day, years later, she texts me and messages me asking to hang out, reconnect, whatever every 3-6 months. She even hinted at flying across the country to visit, 'maybe stay', now that I live in Phoenix. I said hell no. Of course I asked my girlfriend if she found her attractive first, but...

I know plenty of men who ARE that stupid, though, who endlessly do special little things to try and win affection over time. All the while, the chick is like "Oh he totally likes me, it's cute/adorable!" and "Oh, he's such a good friend!" while banging other dudes every few months. Friend of mine has re-dated this chick who leaves him and IMMEDIATELY (within 2 weeks each time) MOVES IN with another dude at least four times. Four (4) times. How the fuck do you fall for that shit? I'm not even entirely sure they've ever even had sex. I just don't get it. You have literally nothing to gain by staying friends with a chick who prevents you, whether through direct effort or inadvertently through your own stupidity, from moving on and finding someone else.

Wait I thought you said women had it much harder than men. Now you're saying they're spoiled and coveted for a large portion of their life.

Pick one please
Get some reading comprehension, because you conveniently ignored a whole bunch of that.

Who's the idiot giving them the free stuff?

You can't blame people for behavior that you're enabling.
Exactly. Check out the "what should you tip" thread for all kinds of examples of idiots admitting they tip women more than men. Those idiots are to blame, not the servers.

People, of either gender, will do whatever they can get away with.
Isn't this just female privilege? "Its not our fault you like us. You give us the free stuff. You could stop."

How is that different than white privilege? Other races give whites preferential treatment just the same as whites do. They could stop. You can't blame whites for the behavior that minorities are enabling.

Who said anything about "blaming whites" for white privilege? Who said anything about blame at all? Yet another of many examples of reading what you want to read and not what's written.

But yes, you're right that females getting free shit from spineless morons is an example of privilege. Being at a general disadvantage doesn't mean there are no advantages at all, although you'd have to be an idiot to believe "Some women are spoiled by idiots" means there is no disparity in the power held by genders.

The quote that you sarcastically re-worded in an attempt to make a jab at white privilege?

Yeah, I read it. See, what I don't think you get is that your comparison is more apt than your sarcasm implies. Yes, that is an example of female privilege. Yes, you can't blame whites for the privileges enabled by other people. That neither negates Mist's point nor does it take away from the concept of white privilege. Basically, you said nothing that made any kind of argument.

That's fine, though. I guess it's better to play it safe with hollow pointless posts than to come on strong about shit you don't understand.

What does the concept of white privilege "do" though? I say that because what am I supposed to do about it? Whats the point of discussing it?

You're supposed to "acknowledge" it.

Basically its a passive aggressive way for non-whites to be racist against whites without actually saying a racial slur.

It's not unfair at all. You just dont want to admit it because it completely destroys your bullshit argument.

I see 5000x more acts of violence as opposed to rape every month whether its on TV, video games, movies, etc. - but if anyone suggested that we live in a culture of murder or a culture of violence, or that men are raised to be murderers - that person would get laughed out of the room. And rightly so when we see that violent crime, murders, etc. is all at a 50 year low.
