That's not exactly what I'm saying. Women, particularly young women, have this concept of their lives as way 'crazier' than it really is. And they think they're doing guys a favor by "sparing" the ones they "like" from the "crazy", not realizing that men have an insanely high tolerance for bullshit, even more-so when they're actually getting laid. In fact, one of the few redeeming qualities of men is just how much bullshit they can put up with while still remaining relatively sane. That's why men look at the Elliot Rodgers of the world with such derision, that guy had no bullshit in his life besides what was in his own head, and still went totally fucking nuts.

The buying shit and taking them places is all on the guys for being dumbass betas. Don't pin that on the girl.

Just be glad you guys don't have to deal with lesbians. Lesbians older than like 24 or so want to move in together on the first date. It's fucking weird.

It's possible that there's really two friendzones, and people just get them confused. There's the friendzone that the PUAs have identified, that hopeless betas put themselves in. And then there's the 'reserve tank' that young women have, this mythical place they put guys they would like to have real relationships once their lives "get less crazy," but for now they'll just fuck assholes they don't really care about driving away with their "crazy." They don't realize that the "crazy" is just shit they've made up, and that by putting off having real relationships and having throwaway relationships instead they're just delaying their own emotional maturity. The 'reserve tank' also gets complicated because these girls know that if they ever start fucking one of the guys in the reserve tank, the rest of them will flip their shit and scatter like the winds, yet the flipside is if one of the guys in the 'reserve tank' starts having a real relationship with something else, the girl will hate herself for only dating assholes and cry quietly for weeks.

Moral of the story: Young women drive themselves crazy, but hopeless betas are still just hopeless betas.

EDIT: I think you can tell the difference between the two because girls don't ask as much of their 'reserve tank' guys. They just like to keep them around just close enough that they know who they're fucking so they know when to start crying.

Just like in Caeden's story earlier, if the FZ'ed guy goes and gets a GF she will go into aggro mode many times. Sadly, there are men who interpret that as "she finally appreciates me!" and drop everything to run back to her like a moron.

Basically girls get to have their cake and eat it too, at least/especially while they are younger. Women are passively conditioned from puberty onward to expect and take for granted constant and varied male attention. This is reinforced behaviorally by the actions of men. Conversely, men are conditioned early on to believe that female attention is scarce and coveted. Which leads to the FZ behaviors where a man will sabotage his own options on the off-chance that princess sorority grad will stop banging musicians any day now and notice him over in the corner holding her proverbial purse.

How would YOU act if you spent the first 15 years of your life spoiled and sheltered, then the next 20-25 being alternately coveted or taken advantage of by every man in your life with no real way to tell the difference ahead of time, and then knowing you're going to spend the REST of your life after 40 being completely ignored until you die?

And that's not even addressing the tremendous amount of shit you're going to get from said 40+ year old other women whilst you're in the 15-40 range.

I get all that, and I don't even blame women for it at all, its simply how our bio-social gender dynamics play out. I just say the "oh, I'd hate to subject this decent fellow to my 'cray cray life' right now" is a blatant load of crap. But of course you have to read between the lines with female communication, no one's going to come out and say "look, I'm really into fucking guys with above the neck tattoos this month, and who knows what I'm doing this summer, but can you still be one of my fall back buddies whenever I'm not out at the bar? kthx". Instead you get responses like your example which deflect the poor leashed lovesick sap while making it sound like she's doing him a favor at the same time.
