If it was as simple as you seem to think it is, it wouldn't be a problem.
1) Be Black
2) Apply for a Mortgage
3) Arrive at an understanding of what institutional racism actually is
1) Submit a resume
2) Be named Shanique
3) Don't get hired
I'm not claiming that this does not happen. I'm claiming the opposite, this does happen. This much we can agree on.
What we disagree on is where it starts to get hard. Where it starts to become work. This has been explained ad-nauseum. Lithose, Cad, and some others have spent a lot of electricity in doing it well, and the rest of us more electricty in doing it poorly. The end result, unfortunately, is not "white people be power-trippin, yo". These posters are not bastions of socially conservative idealism. I have no doubt that if they WERE able to lay it at the feet of vestigal bigotry they would do so.
We all wish it was as easy as you and Tanoomba want it to be. I do understand what you're saying, Mist. Honestly, I do. A child could understand it.
You want homogenization? You want that expression of freedom? Go get a corporate job.
Dat glass ceiling. It is made of irony.
