Rape cases are declining. You have no idea or not whether rape incidents are declining, you don't have those numbers. In my opinion, no sane person would bother reporting a rape in this current environment unless they have ironclad evidence.

We're going to end up in a surveillance society where everyone has a body camera, like Russia with their dashboard cams. That's a symptom of a society that's lost trust in all of their institutions.

Western society today is probably the best place for a woman to report a rape in the history of the world. This, combined with actual rape cases declining leads you to conclude there's an epidemic of rape going on right now. Because you just feel that way.

I'd report it for the insurance claim. But have you ever had your car broken into or house? About 10 years ago someone stole the stereo out of one of my cars, the cops showed up, wrote a report, gave me the incident #, and left. 30 minutes. No investigation whatsoever. What do you think happens?

I think I'd report a rape just like I'd report any assault.

But what are the police supposed to do if I show up at the station, no evidence whatsoever, and say someone punched me in the mouth 6 months ago and I'd like to report it. I know who they are, and yes they did it. But no evidence. Do they charge them? Do they open an investigation? What do?

Do you see how that comment quite clearly paints your bias on the topic? It's not a large leap in logic to say that less rapes are happening today; not only due to less reports of rapes, but less violent crime in pretty much every single category.

Look, no one is saying, certainly not me, to throw away healthy levels of skepticism. The problem is that healthy skepticism has been tossed aside for absurdist cynicism. If you can't tell the difference between skepticism and cynicism, that's on you.
