I want to talk about the core issue.Nobody here wants to talk about the core issue and you know it.
What is the core issue?
I want to talk about the core issue.Nobody here wants to talk about the core issue and you know it.
I don't know that anything needs to be done to reduce inclination towards rape. Seems to be going away of its own accord.Core issue? Nobody here wants to talk about the core issue and you know it. Don't pretend that I'm swaying the discussion with stuff that doesn't matter. Therewas no discussionbefore I decided to push the "defensive douchebag" button and whip you goons up into a frenzy. Obviously, you guys love it too or you wouldn't keep posting here. I provide you with windmills to swing your swords at, you provide me with an opportunity to school several internet alpha males with one blow. it's mutually beneficial.
If you're telling me you'd rather have a rational discussion about why rapes occur at all, whether they get too much attention relative to their impact on society, what can be done to reduce inclination towards rape, etc, then awesome. I'm there, bro. But we can't have a rational discussion when everyone's too busy trying to bust open the Tanoomba pinata by beating it with strands of cooked pasta. Once we get over everyone's ferocious aversion to uncomfortable truths, the healing can begin.
Maybe the world ended in 2003. Maybe we're all dead. OH MY GOD.
Junk statistics from advocacy groups are slung around and become common knowledge, such as the incredible factoid that one in four university students has been raped. (The claim was based on a commodious definition of rape that the alleged victims themselves never accepted; it included, for example, any incident in which a woman consented to sex after having had too much to drink and regretted it afterward.)
Obviously an epidemicThe National Crime Victimization Survey, which uses a narrower definitions, found that only 0.5% of women and 0.06% of men, age 12 or older, were victims of rape or sexual assault in 1995. (The NCVS groups together rape and sexual assault.) By 2010, these numbers had decreased to 0.2% of women and 0.01% of men.
All right. You responded by giving me the definition of a false dichotomy, which I already knew. Please explain how it applies in this case. You are presenting a situation as if it must be A or B, when in fact the answer is neither A or B. That's called a false dichotomy. Keep trying chimp.
We are making progress, gentlemen! Yes, that's exactly what I want to hear.Yes, taking sexual advantage of a person who can't say no is textbook rape. Is that what you want to hear? I wasn't trying to disprove that.
I'm sorry if that's the impression I gave you. I thought I made it clear that a contract can be voided if and only if one party took advantage of the other's drunken state. Perhaps you missed one of several posts where I stated this explicitly and took another post out of context. I don't know. What I do know is we're on the same page now. Welcome to the reasonable people club.It also wasn't what you asked. You said that a drunk person can't form a contract; I showed you that yes, they can.
Why isn't Tanoomba pressuring for prison system reform? After all it looks like 75% or so of rape cases occur there.A 1997 report by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, which defines rape as forced penetration by the offender, found that 91% of rape victims are female and 9% are male, and that nearly 99% of rapists are male. However, when prison rapes are included in the statistics it has been reported that, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, "...more men are raped in the U.S. than women... In 2008, it was estimated 216,000 inmates were sexually assaulted while serving time... compared to 90,479 rape cases outside of prison."
Lindz is 100% woman.I dont understand why Tanoomba is white knighting sluts so hard. Doesnt he know that there are no women on Rerolled? The closest thing we had to women are Goliath and Jerle.
Because only women can be raped and prison sex is all gay, so its consensual. Why isn't Tanoomba pressuring for prison system reform? After all it looks like 75% or so of rape cases occur there.
Drunk people can say no.Yes, taking sexual advantage of a person who can't say no is textbook rape
Is she hot?Lindz is 100% woman.
She's also 100% married. But me, I'm patient.
Stop doing this, all of you. The deciding factor is not "Were X drinks consumed?" or "Was the party in question just tipsy or blacked out?" The deciding factor is whether or not the other party knew about the first party's drunken state and took advantage of it to bring about a result that would not have occurred had that person been of sound mind. Are you only talking about being so drunk that you literally can't walk, or talk straight and almost passed out tanoomba? ie lose control of your faculties? or something more vague?
Dude, I honestly don't know what you're trying to do here. I never said or implied that there was an epidemic of rape. In fact, I never made a statement either way about the significance of rape as a modern-day problem for most people. Your sarcasm is a response towhat, exactly?Obviously an epidemic

Never said they couldn't.Drunk people can say no.
