Schools are hostile to boys, but they always have been. At least they don't get whipped with switches now every time they start acting like boys. There's even more male teachers now.
Quoting myself. I said there's more male teachers now than back when they used to get whipped with switches by school marms. That's all that I was trying to say. I wasn't talking about recent trends. It was a throwaway line about how boys have always been punished for being boys in school, not something to be taken apart.

Hey man, I'm just saying what I'm feeling. Don't go all up in here with these facts and figures.

There are not more male teachers now. Men were the majority in the 1880s, there was a bunch of money spent on education during the Great Depression that lead to a resurgence of males in education, then World War 2 happened and it seems unlikely that male representation did anything other than tank, and then we get to were there are statistics and it's nothing but a downward slope.

So what is the exact 2 year stretch in the last one and a half centuries where representation was higher now than it was then that you are talking about.

Men were still never the majority after the 1880s. And never the majority at all for grade school. But yeah, it's now approaching the levels it used to be, you're right. It's bad, boys have no good role models in school.

Regardless, men not going into teaching isn't to be directly blamed on women either.

And my point that 'boy behavior' was always punished in schools still stands. A recent study showed that girls ALWAYS had higher grades than boys on average, reaching back over 100 years. Boys have always tested better on certain objective tests, but have always gotten worse grades overall based on their behavior issues. So school has always been hostile to boys.

No, it isn't "approaching the levels it used to be." You find data to support that claim. When did it "used to be." Not in the last half century, that's for fucking sure.

Men aren't going into teaching because it's a field increasingly hostile to them. Hell, I'll go one step further. Society itself is increasingly hostile towards men. Would you want to be in a field dominated by women if you were a man after that retard went and killed 4 men, 2 women, and himself? There's a whole bunch of hate floating around right now if you haven't noticed.

Regarding "boy behavior" and how it was "always punished" are you familiar with the concept of Zero Tolerance? Do I really need to post every fucked up story of a kid making a finger gun and getting expelled? No recess, Zero Tolerance policy, and less male teachers is being reflected in some pretty fucking miserable stats for boys. The fact boys always tended to score worse doesn't mean we can't track things like how much worse. We can even go further to look at how many of them then go to college.

Hey look, less and less males are going to college. Another pretty ugly downward tend line.

Hear hear! Excellent point.

... Immediately followed by an example of exactly what you were criticizing.
You kinda missed the point (although, to be fair, I didn't explain it very well).

What I'm getting at isn't that women as a group are intentionally and maliciously going out of their way to ''pussify'' boys because they're evil or w/e, but that through legal changes instituted by a small group of (primarily feminist) academic ideologues, a situation has been created where boys are deprived of the primary rolemodel of positive masculinity in their life - the father. It probably wasn't intentional for the most part, but now it's where we're at, and the everyday divorcees and single mothers are the bottom end of the channel through which this effect has trickled down from legal policy > family courts and legal rulings > tearing families apart > direct psychological and emotion impacts on children. I'm pointing out an important example of my previous point.

What legal changes promoted by academic ideologues has led to a decrease in influence of the father?

I've been a pretty hardcore liberal all my life, but even I'm fed up with this shit
I think I've been reading too much TumblrInAction lately. Shit is seriously infuriating me. This perversion of logic and reason that has corrupted the left lately makes me want to burn something down. Like, you can just assert that there's a rape culture, and then every time something bad happens to a woman, no matter the context, it magically reinforces your unsubstantiated assertion that there's a rape culture. Social "science"!

Game industry isn't pumping out enough games that interest you? Rape culture. Guy takes up too much space on the Subway? Rape culture. Somebody refuses to fuck you because you're a fat fucking disgusting slob that literally hates everything? Rape culture. Dude fails to refer to you using one of your obscur, uniquely preferred pronouns that nobody else on Earth uses? Rape culture. One guy somewhere attacked a woman? Rape culture. All men are socialized to hate women. Do we have to substantiate this with any sort of study? Nope! Just say it. Over and over and over again, and then it becomes a fact! I mean, I didn't think I hated women, but I guess I was just "socialized" to not notice my utter contempt for them. Thanks for setting me straight, social science!

Like, just think about how unscientific concepts like 'privilege' are. This entire soft science community passes this term around like it's a fucking scientific law, and it's just some shit that they made up to explain things that are far too complicated for them to actually understand. Anything can be explained away by the scientific law of privilege, guys. XYZ ethnicity or gender makes more money than another? That's just because of privilege. A person disagrees with you? That's just because they're "privileged" and are unable to empathize with your position. Accept the fact that not all cultures are created equally? Nah, just puss out and blame everything you don't like on privilege. It's an argumentative skeleton key that magically opens up every door and explains everything at all times and in all places.

There's a lot of Post modern absurdities floating around

especially @ 5:45

You don't get on the front pages with doing basic research, so they try to emulate the hard sciences which are often more prestigous, have theories that drive towards far reaching conclusions but the difference is they aren't hard sciences.

Look at some of the absurd shit these intellectuals say

Fashionable Nonsense - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The book gives a chapter to each of the above mentioned authors, "the tip of the iceberg" of a group of intellectual practices that can be described as "mystification, deliberately obscure language, confused thinking and the misuse of scientific concepts."[7]For example, Luce Irigaray is criticised for asserting that E=mc2 is a "sexed equation" because "it privileges the speed of light over other speeds that are vitally necessary to us"; and for asserting that fluid mechanics is unfairly neglected because it deals with "feminine" fluids in contrast to "masculine" rigid mechanics.

It must literally kill some people to admit, that they were wrong or made a mistake on the internet. It really isnt that hard to admit, you are wrong sometimes. It happens.

Or you can start a godawful discussion with all the stats contradiciting you!

On the topic of male teachers. I graduated from high school in 87. In the mid 80's I was going through what I could do for a career. I actually wanted to be a teacher at one point, but ahd multiple counselors at my school push me away from it as I wanted to teach grade school and they all let me know that "Grade schools just don't hire men to be teachers"...

I'm curious where you got this from. There were several males in my teaching program and the concept of the field of teaching being hostile to men never came up once, not even in casual conversation.

Well, sure, it is unlikely that someone is going to say in casual conversation "it really sucks that male teachers to the young have alot of people just assume they are weird at best and pedophiles at worst". Yet this is surely the case. See idiots like Kegkilla above.

Beta males aren't real males. They're basically women, so its not surprising that this never occurred to you.

Why would that be weird to mention in casual conversation with people who are studying to be teachers?

No one was talking about the Canadian education system here. Don't you teach at the undergrad level as well?

I often talk to my colleagues about pedophilia. Makes for great water cooler talk. Right after we discuss who we raped this weekend.
