The more I read about those new accords the more I like. The 4 door sport with the base engine and manual transmission does 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and gets close to breaking into 14 second quarter mile territory. Well done Honda. This thread made me aware of the small overlap test as well and interesting to see the accord score well on it. My other half was involved in a fatal accident years ago in her beetle. Honda Pilot went airborne and landed on her hood on a 2 lane. Other driver wasn't wearing her seatbelt. Laura walked away without a scratch, other woman ended up under the bug's rear axle. Really pay attention to crashworthiness these days. Unfortunately it kills my inspiration for restoring old cars

Anyway back to the accord, the sport is very nice all around for a 24k sedan.

Trollicious will definitely send you a pm when the times comes bro.

might need to get a new car. friend of mine works at a BMW dealer and can get me the best price available on a car there. thinking about grabbing a 2008 328 with ~50k miles for around $18k. good idea?

after reading the whole thread BMW sounds like a bad idea.

any thoughts on this from the car experts?

fun enough to drive that I won't be miserable (though Mazdas are kind of chick cars) great sound system, comes in under KBB price, only thing i'm worried about is the mileage.

also would I have an issue buying a car in NJ as a PA resident?

If the mini was made by a jap company or even a detroit company I would get behind it. I just hate the way german cars are setup inside. Fairly fun little cars but not the best reliability. Sounds like you know that already

As for the bmw, just research if that is a good price for your area and if you want that car. Fun, rwd, german, smaller car. If yes get it, if not something else

From out of state buying a used car, check if your state has state inspections and or smog inspections on top of every thing you would check into when buying a used car. Unless it is a very specific type of car, I personally would steer clear from online used cars because you dont have the luxury of seeing it driving it touching it etc. I always have friends or family interested in a used car grab it and take it to a mechanic and pay to have it inspected. Worth the 40 bucks or so especially if you arent car smart.

well I would obviously go check it out before buying, it's right across the river in NJ.

also a question about car loans.

what APR am I likely to be offered with ~750 credit score, or is there more to it than that? also, can you pay additional money towards the principle if you desire?

haha. I really didn't plan on buying a car right now but my truck is going to need like $3k worth of work to pass inspection and i'm not about to drop that into the piece of shit that it is.

friend said I could go to her BMW dealership tomorrow and join the wholesalers auction on the trade ins that the dealership doesn't want to keep. I know almost jack shit about cars so this could go very bad.

You will likely get fucked, there is usually a good reason they won't take a trade in and re sell it. Usually its old mid to late nineties cars with no re sell value or ones that appear fine but after they get inspected by their techs, realize its gonna need a shit load of work to bring it back to sellable.

Fiat 500 Abarth will outrun and outaccelerate anything you've ever owned.
Better than my old CBR900RR? Better than the half dozen or so CR 250's I've had and built to the nuts? Better than my Rotax-powered 130-HP MX I had? Can it hold a candle to the TRX250R I had? How about the KXT 250 I had? Or my 16v 900t with small mods that I owned?

Forget about my pre-1978 Elsinore which is as slow as daisies growing, but still vastly faster than your little girlie man car.

what's the likelihood of getting caught by a cop if I try to drive for ~month with expired inspection stickers?

LOL

As for driving for a month on expired tags/inspection, just depends on how easy it is to read the stickers. Generally, it's easy. You could try putting some cheap obnoxious plastic frame on your plates to try and obscure it, but that might just draw more attention.
