What? You used to be cool Obsidian. Seriously, yours is the ONLY Kickstarter I have given money to based on your excellent design chops. Then you go and give some of that money to this moronic ADD monkey that couldn't manage a kindergarten block building project. His Kickstarter DESERVES to fail, you should let it.Obsidian Entertainment just backed CU. I think that means any shortfall of the kickstarter will be paid by them to ensure it continues development.
Did Mark piss in your cherios? I can understand being wary of his game, that's par for the course and a pretty safe bet. But your level of vitriol bespeaks of personal animus. Fess up Gomer, what did Mark do to you? What? You used to be cool Obsidian. Seriously, yours is the ONLY Kickstarter I have given money to based on your excellent design chops. I am disappoint.

Never worked with the guy, but if you go through the thread you will see that I think he represents everything that is wrong with the MMO industry and what is wrong with my profession, design, in particular.Did Mark piss in your cherios? That can be said of almost everyone in the gaming biz. It's a creative industry with lots of big egos. Mark is a moneyman, his job is to get funding and so far he seems to be getting that part done. His "design" atm is just hype to get interest. Complaining about it seems kind of nitpicky, trivial and puts the cart before the horse. He's not alone in that opinion either from some of the people I've talked to in the gaming industry over the years.

That raises a good question Grim, if this were being run by someone other than Mark Jacobs but the info released thus far on Kickstarter and the Foundation Principles didn't change would this project be more palatable to those that have such a seething hate for Mark? That can be said of almost everyone in the gaming biz. I doubt he will have anything to do with the actual nuts and bolts design when (if) his game is funded. He'll hand that off to the peons who don't have the talent for fundraising.
Somebody is quite rustled..I think everyone in the forum saw this post coming a mile away.
Someone tell Draegan when the next McMMO is coming out so he can do a website and hype the nutz out of it like he has been the last 2-3yrs.
Ironically it is all his talk specifically about Camelot Unchained that lead me to this conclusion, so the answer is no it wouldn't be. I was pretty neutral on the guy before CU because I never worked with him and really never paid any attention to what he did or said. Once I started reading his posts on Camelot Unchained it quickly became clear that he fit into the amateur clueless designer archetype I am all too familiar with. Hell, even the rewards rundown on the Kickstarter page reads like the ramblings of a 13 year old off his Ritalin. I can only assume the copy is personally written by Mark in the same messy style of his jumpy, incoherent, unorganized blog posts. That raises a good question Grim, if this were being run by someone other than Mark Jacobs but the info released thus far on Kickstarter and the Foundation Principles didn't change would this project be more palatable to those that have such a seething hate for Mark?
Well, my first fansite ever was WAAAGHHammer.com for WAR and my first interview was with Mark Jacobs. I have nothing against the guy, I'm just skeptical of the project solely based on those crazy design philosophy posts he made and how poorly constructed they were.I think everyone in the forum saw this post coming a mile away.

palatable?? if it was not mj with the same initial website and posts on it, it would neverrr get a second glance/betakenseriously -- maybe if it was 2000 again, which is how those posts read hype-wise: vapid, fanatical, idealistic. That raises a good question Grim, if this were being run by someone other than Mark Jacobs but the info released thus far on Kickstarter and the Foundation Principles didn't change would this project be more palatable to those that have such a seething hate for Mark?
