Really? HB is on Broad City? Sonuvabitch, I've got a show to add to the queue and catch up on. He kind of reminds me of a black Stephen Wright - which has been a style of comedy I've really felt a drought of recently. (Besides S. Wright's recent work... but he's not doing much anymore that was what the first in 10 years or something?)
I listened to an episode of the Team Coco podcast(2 of Conan's people interview some guests after the show) recently with Steven Wright. They were talking Red Sox and he was completely out of character. It was weird hearing him laughing and emoting. He also mentioned that his whole deadpan delivery came from when he was new and was just obsessed with saying the jokes perfectly as he made them up. So he was concentrating so hard on getting every word right he didn't add any real inflection and crowds just happened to love the way it worked with his humor.

Draw!

I liked how the chemistry books were stacked like blue meth on trays from Breaking Bad.

Were VCR games ever a thing? Never saw that.

It looked fun

And has Shirley ever not turned evil when given the chance?

First attempts at interactive games. DVDs did them also. Consoles pretty much killed them, though. I think Scene It is still around, though.

Pretty sure I had a Candyland VCR game some time in the late 80s. Though maybe the tape didn't have anything to do with the game at all, I can't really remember at this point.

Don't understand how they did whole story arcs about how horrible a person Pierce is, but have yet to have one solid episode devoted to calling Shirley out on what a terrible friend she is. Her judgmental and hypocritical behavior is at least as bad as Pierce's racism etc., but at least Pierce was up front about what he was and had to suffer some sort of consequences (as well as having plenty of exploration into why he acted the way he did), while Shirley constantly gets away with treating the whole group like shit and the show mostly ignores the fact that her 'kind christian housewife' thing is a complete sham.
I never even thought about it in those terms, but you're absolutely fucking right. I've always disliked Shirley as a character, and now you've helped my brain make the connections as to exactly why.

YOU DID. I also had a Candyland VCR game when I was very young. In fact, I'm going to call my father later today, I'm sure it's still somewhere in his gigantic collection of tapes.

You just don't like her because she's black.

Dean's payday rap was great but I genuinely can't watch through an entire episode anymore. Shirley is a fucking terrible character and any arc with her in it is nails on a chalkboard. I wish that she was a semi successful rapper so she would leave and I could watch an episode of Community without her shitty, squeaky voice.

I barely remember the first DnD episode, but that was fucking hilarious. David Cross was a good choice, and I lost it at lightning bolt.

You can definitely see the difference in the production budget of the first D&D episode and this one. But despite that this one was at least as funny as the first. David Cross was awesome.

It feels like the mathematical average of Season 3 (the good of Chaos Theory averaged with the "bad" of Drematorium).

Next week is the GI Joe episode. I'm already prepared for it to not be half as good as Venture Bros' OSI/Sphinx shenanigans.

Episode felt really short for some reason, was the first time in ages that time has just flown watching it or it felt incomplete and I'm not sure which. When it ended I had to check the time to see how long it actually went for, then to check it wasn't a 2 parter.

Didn't think it was as good as the first D&D episode but with the different dynamic I can understand that. Loved the ep though, just no idea why it felt short.

I actually play D&D and I think because of that, the episodes are just not realistic enough to D&D. The DM himself rolls for every single thing, lol. Just nitpicking! But, I thought the story was otherwise good.

I was super stoked to see David Cross in the episode and then was quickly disappointed when they didn't really let him do any David Cross type comedy. Really any actor could have been in that role. But I am nit picking, I liked this episode and have liked this season as a whole.
