P.S. Stop using this community for personal gain. Thanks.
Draegan's ok, better than most at running this site. And he seems to be pretty laid back about the whole thing which is a plus. Don't mind him trying to make a buck at it either, since it hasn't impacted me in any negative way. Don't see how it hurts anyone else either.

As for his "failied" site history, so what? Practice makes perfect and it only takes one success to wipe away all the failures. That is true in most endeavors. Thomas Edison was a master at "failed" ideas, but he kept at it and his successes changed the world.

Well if you want to talk failures, I had two "failures" prior to Rift Junkies. They were hobbies and fun to put together and build. They were only failures if you mark success by money. My first success was Rift Junkies which ranked in the top 1? of Internet traffic for a short amount of time. I think it was in the top 100k in site rankings worldwide. And every site since then has been a mixed bag. However the endeavor has lent me the ability to tour game studios, hang out with devs, go out to dinner with them, travel and go to different cons, and completely support my gaming hobby including buying new hardware over the years.

I consider that an amazing success since it's never ever been a full time job and even in the heyday helped pay for my wedding and down payment for my first house.

I've never been able to do it on my own and never claimed otherwise. Actually no one has ever asked me about my endeavours in that fashion and has always assumed I was a shill or failure or whatever you want to call it. So if you're u want to call me out or call me a pos or whatever makes you feel better about yourself, go ahead. It's a bit odd though.

Edit:the majority of that is in the past. I haven't actively built a site in years and before people go nuts, this site and my legacy sites basically "earn" enough to support themselves.

The way the site is basically a trend from what I'm told in responsive design.

I can lock in the header I think, and I agree that shouldn't scroll. The sidebar on the right hand will stay scrolling for the time being.

The body I think is fine imo. It's jot a standard blog roll for sure. Not everyone's taste though.
Now that I'm finally looking at it at home, the overall design isn't as bad as I thought it was. I still like the aesthetics and the big ass leading picture in the center column is pretty common for modern web design. Maybe it's just me, but I still hate that middle section so much (below the lead image). It's a complete killer for me, but maybe I'm the only one.

Here's a response to the design - I am not a fan and would never return to the site again if I didn't know that you were huge on this game and going to push the bar on getting decent content. If you are doing it as a "blog" as you sort of suggested earlier then a much simpler design is in order. As a long time blogger I've always held much higher viewership when I had a simple page versus a busy one.

CF.GG - A letter from the foundersGordon commenting on slowing down communication post kickstarter

Full Quote here:

We've been very quiet this week, compared to all the information we've dropped over the last three months both before and during the Kickstarter. This is to be expected, as the team needed a little time to recover, and now we are re-organizing our team to deliver the tests over the coming months and finally the core module at the end of next year.
The core module got a lot bigger during the Kickstarter period thanks to your support (and our stretch goals), which changed our plans quite a bit! We are in the midst this week of planning activities. These include finalizing the hires we'd had lined up before the Kickstarter, preparing for the stretch goal hires, planning the scope of the first pre-alpha test this summer, looking at how we will get all the content executed between our in-house staff and outsourcing partners, ensuring we are front loading the remaining R&D tasks and finally configuring the strike teams for these goals.

We also have to finalize our cadence for information releases along the way in development, for you, our backers! In addition, our external web team will be rolling out new features, including a more robust pledge page and integrated payments rather than the vendor "paywall" we currently use. And we're working on some unbundled pledge items some of you have been asking about! We're also reconfiguring our website to ensure it gives out the information that used to be on Kickstarter for new people that want to know more before deciding to back us and join our community.

Finally, we are waiting to get the data on our backers from Kickstarter, which is scheduled to be sent to us at the end of next week. We then have to send everyone who backed us an individual email with instructions on how to merge your pledge with a crowfall.com account. If you don't have one already, please go to crowfall.com and register now. This account will also be your game account and will allow you to test and play the game when the time comes. So you can expect us to be somewhat quiet this week and early next week in terms of official communications (but we'll continue to be active on the forums and social media, of course.) By the week of April 13th, we should be settled into a cadence of building the game and letting you all know what we are up to. Again, thanks for backing us and thanks for being engaged with us as we build Crowfall. We can promise it will be exciting; it only gets better from here!

Enough is enough, get rid of the right side bar, eliminate:
Actual-gold-crow.png

and remove scrolling on the left. You don't need a 1800 by 400pixel side bar for literally 8 links.

Put your links to other articles on the bottom where Teljair is fdsfdshfhsdhf it up instead of pulling aggro in ArcheAge where he belongs.

Some constructive criticism on the website. Remove the right hand side as it is essentially wasted space and either remove it completely or move it to the left side either in its own sub-page (link) or below the rest. The middle is a cluster as it is so giving it 1/3 more real estate to either spread them out / make them bigger / etc would go a long ways.
