Maybe one of my favorite books in the past 10 or so years. Apple really pushing on the SciFi genre always makes me happy, this looks fantastic, the author is the show runner and it looks incredibly faithful.

oh nice the book was pretty damn neat and thats a great cast

multiverse is still hot i guess, but this version is imo the closest to what the real infinite multiverse is like than the shitty 2 to few dozen multiverses of MCU etc

and yeah RIP syfy dark matter, you were great. i think its actually on netflix 100% worth a watch, very early 2000s Stargate SG1 vibe show

first 2 episodes are out, probably will wait till the entire season (9 episodes just like severance) with the finale airing June 26th.

metacritic is currently 74% RT and 76% user score so not doing crazy good numbers, usually means i'd probably like it though. also helps that Jennifer Connelly seems to be a co-star and i'll watch anything with her in it

I thought it was good, but not great. I know where the story is going from the book though, so probably a bit more suspense etc if you are coming into it fresh.

First episode reminded me of the show with J Jonah Jameson from a few years back where he played the nerdy wuss in one universe and the badass spy type guy in the second universe and they switched places.

I read the book, this pace is going to be a one and done which is probably a good thing but it makes it kind of slowish to start. If you are not familiar with the source material you may want to binge it because the story goes bonkers.

This has grown on me as it goes along - the latest episode was pretty good.

I am pretty sure they typoed the title for the episode though, it was supposed to be called 'Bitch, are you retarded?'

The show skipped over the most exciting part of the most recent episode. How did they not show two people digging out the box with their hands and curtain rods in freezing temperatures with no food?

I just watched the first episode and it was everything I thought it would be -massively frustrating as he stumbles around in another world seemingly unable to string together the sentences that would help everyone realise he was swapped.


It's like shows when people get framed for murders they didn't do. They're borderline painful to watch because they're so frustrating

Does this get better?

This isn’t bad but it’s not great either. Maybe it’s because multiverse/time travel/alternate reality has been beat to death since the 90’s but there isn’t anything new or exciting here. With counterpart there was the mystery of where the virus that decimated the other world came from and who might be responsible for it and the threat of invasion. This so far is just guy gets kidnapped by other self and now he’s trying to find his way home. Again, it isn’t bad but it just feels like a typical standard alternate reality show without the excitement of exploring the…alternate realities.

I’m sure the book is better and infinitely more fast paced but after 5 episodes I feel like watching Sliders.

I watched the first minute of the second episode and that was enough for me to nope out. I just cba watching him stumble around gormlessly trying to figure out what's going on
