It's a Gin company he owns (Aviator) and he also owns/owned Mint mobile. He seems to invest in a company, use his endorsement/fame to pump it, then in some cases sell it off. (I think he sold Mint mobile, but still owns Aviator gin).I'd be surprised if any s-a or even b tier actor/celeb isn't able to rocket boost their net worth via endorsements, investments and producing/getting % of box office revenue
I cba to check but I think Reynolds got brought into the Wrexham acquisition because his partner needed a tier or two higher wealth. Doesn't Reynolds have a tequila company which seems to be the standard Hollywood side business
Edit: ok seems he's made some other savvy investments
Same can be said for a lot of actors we really like, like Samuel L Jackson and to a certain degree Robert Downey Jr.Saying Reynolds only ever plays Reynolds and doesn't have much acting range while lauding DeNiro as some great actor is pretty comical. Considering DeNiro only ever played DeNiro his entire career.
I think that's mostly true, and as much as I don't like the guy, Awakenings is a pretty great film, and he's definitely acting outside of his normal De Niro persona. Taxi Driver I guess would be another, and The Deer Hunter.Saying Reynolds only ever plays Reynolds and doesn't have much acting range while lauding DeNiro as some great actor is pretty comical. De Niro has been playing De Niro since the early 70s.I think that's mostly true, and as much as I don't like the guy, Awakenings is a pretty great film, and he's definitely acting outside of his normal De Niro persona. Taxi Driver I guess would be another, and The Deer Hunter.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head though.
Edit: DickTrickle hit the nail on the head. It's definitely a lot more of his earlier films, but now he's just old salty Wise Guy.
Gary Oldman is probably one of the best out there. master of disguise and changes his performances for each new look.DeNiro has very little to no acting range. He's good at what he does, and dramatic actors get more credit than comedic actors because dramas win awards. DeNiro attempted to show some range in Stardust and wasn't very good.
Robin Williams had more acting range than most of the very good, very acclaimed actors mentioned here.
Very few actors actually do have range. DiCaprio and to a lesser extent Pitt. Kingsley. DDL. A lot of bit actors are much better than mega stars but don't have "The Look" or presence to be leads. Oliver Plath comes to mind. So does Stanley Tucci.
Oldman is on a tier where I honestly think there's a real chance that at some point in the future.. I'll be on my deathbed, letting the last bit of life trickle out of me. Tell my wife I love her one last time as I pass.. then just as I close my eyes for the last time I'll hear someone yell CUT! And it will turn out that I was Gary Oldman the whole damn time...Gary Oldman is probably one of the best out there. master of disguise and changes his performances for each new look.
Reynolds can mix it up but it just doesn't put asses in the seats when he does. I'm surprised with how rich he is he hasn't tried some different roles. Gyllenhaal is one of my favorites but he's been is some crappy movies lately
I would also add this actor to the list of incredible.Gary Oldman is probably one of the best out there. master of disguise and changes his performances for each new look.
All this talk of acting "range" and nobody fucking mentions Philip Seymour Hoffman?
Go watch his role in Along Came Polly and then go watch Capote, or The Talented Mr. Ripley. I know the dude is dead, but he's right up there with Oldman.
Hot take - DDL really only gets the praise he does because of Bill the Butcher and Daniel Plainview. I honestly thing his body of work is kinda "meh" outside of those two iconic roles.
I think Hoffman was playing himself in boogie nights as the fat annoying fag.
