That sounds like a surprisingly good plan.I'm debating keeping the 970, or flipping it for a profit and buying a 980.

Yeah I ordered an Asus one (cancelled my Amazon order) and quite literally the next minute they were out of stock. The more I thought about it, the more it doesn't sound like it'll pan out. Selling it on eBay would net a loss of 10%, plus shipping, which means you're just barely breaking even. I think I'm just going to SLI two 970's and call it good.
Edit: 970's are back in stock at NewEgg already (right now).
Edit 2: Fuck those go fast.
Demand exceeds production capability. Is there a reason nvidia is not putting out more of these cards? Trying to keep them rare? Holding off til Christmas? Some new form of marketing?
This shit happens with virtually every major GPU release, in my experience. It's always 2-4 weeks at least before availability becomes reasonable. This generation of cards launched at a lower price point than past generations, they are selling like mad. I'm not sure Nvidia was prepared for that.
....exactly 1/8th of an inch longer than whatever chassis you've got.Btw how long are those new 970 gtx cards?
Isn't the new 970 gtx faster than the 780 gtx?
Might make sense for someone with an SLI capable system and a single 780. Kind of wish I'd paid attention when the 680 was being discontinued and picked up a second one for my system. So that just does not make sense to buy that 780 up there. In fact the 780 does not make sense at all anymore at that price point. It should be now a $250-$280 card.
