so I am thinking about rebuilding my audio recording PC into something ultra silent. Any of you good folks have some recommendations on ultra silent cases that allow water cooling?

Right now I am thinking about getting the corsair c600q. I like the black monolith look, but the most important thing is the PC is as quiet as possible so I get no noise during takes in my little home garage studio.

The Fractal Design Define S is a good choice for a quiet case that allows water cooling, should be cheap too.

Definitely better for the industry for sure. Intel has been nothing-burgering fr the better part of the last 6 yrs with their "10%" better bullshit from gen to gen. Maybe now this will fore them to really step up their game.

Looks like I'll be changing over to an AMD setup in the future.

Yeah, I specifically waited for the Ryzen before deciding my next PC. Hopefully i'll be able to put together a screamer for less than an i7 build used to be.

I've had the same PC for like 4 years. I did upgrade the video card though. Next will be the mobo/processor I guess.

i would love an excuse to get a new mobo and Ryzen processor but it's hard to justify it since my 3570k with 980ti already crushes everything out there at 1440p. i would need some motivation in the form of a AAA game with sick graphics to make the jump.

I'm running an i5-2500 (not even k) and have been since mid 2011. The video card update I had was a R9 380 at the end of 2015 for Fallout 4 at 1080p and that was plenty. I've wanted to build a computer from the nuts out for years but I haven't found a single game I cared to play that wouldn't run fine on my current setup. With VR gaming and the like on the horizon, it would be nice if Ryzen makes component prices competitive again.

Im tempted to upgrade from from my 4690k. None of the leaks/rumors are hinting at anything bad. I really want AMD to fuck Intel in the ass as hard as possible.

I REALLY need to update my storage. Main drive is a 512gb ocz ssd from 2012 and misc drive is a 1gb samsung from 2009. Feel like either is going to fail any second.

The S is a great case. Only thing I dont like about it is the top vents do not have a dust filter if you use them. Other than that perfect unless you need more than 3 hdds.

My secondary hard drive died inexplicably. The one I just use to store my pirated shit. Never had an HD die on me before. I've had a 250GB SSD as my primary since 2013 though.

I've had an i5-3570k and I can still play whatever at any resolution I actually care about. But this jump is as good as any to upgrade my mobo/processor this year. Will probably get another HD while I am at it.

On Tuesday, my main PC died. Well, technically it wouldn't post. I checked the RAM, nada. Checked the video... Nada. It's either the mobo or the i7 3770k Fuck me. I wanted to get up and going quickly, so I ordered something else from Newegg.

Did you check the power supply and clear the CMOS jumper?

Yes, it's definitely either the mobo or CPU.

I ordered an i5-7600K with an Asus Z270-A mobo. Also 16 gigs of DDR4 3200 ram. I might have to get a different water cooler. I'll see how the one I currently have lines up with the new board once it comes in.

$534.97 for everything. Not terrible.

The down side is I now need to sell 32 gigs of DDR3 1600 ram. Maybe I'll throw it up on craigslist.

8x4 sticks? Pretty sure all I have is DDR3 considering I bought it in 2011. How much you looking to sell it for? Might be interested.
