Just realized that while in Cleveland for 2 weeks I'm near a Micro center! Ffffuuu!

What deals they have running?! I'm gonna go and pray I don't just build a whole new rig on the spot.

Still the best proc prices around +$30 off motherboard combo. Most other stuff is comparable or a bit more than on-line, but I did score a Toshiba 2tb HD for like $60 when I was there so there are deals to be had there.

7700k is 50 cheaper at microcenter afaik - everything else seems more or less the same.

Build your own, bro. Its super easy and you get to chose what you want. Watch a youtube video on how to. Its literally easier then building some lego sets. We can help you here if you have parts questions. You will save cash and get exactly what you want. It takes like 2 hours to build one and another hour to load up windows, drivers. If you want something simple for web type shit, You can probably build it for like $400-500 and it will be better than anything you can buy for that price.

Another option is a dell business one you can kit out, or Ibuypower or some other site like that that lets you choose more parts to trick it out like you want.

I know - its for the wife... she wants something sleek and nice looking. I did make her a desktop with a fancy girl case with rhinestones on it and shit about 7 years ago... she has been through 2 laptops. Or course she saw the surface studio so she wants that- but not at 3k lol

And yes... it is easier than legos now days - there is nothing that fits where its not suppose to go - well maybe the power button jumpers - but higher end boards and cases have colored coded them and some even make little plug outlines for them now - no more reading the instruction manual and mixing up the + - lol

Maybe I can put together a utx or something small and slap it behind a monitor - she really mostly wants 2 monitors.

I would love to get her a surface 4 and dock and 2 nice screens, but I am cheap.

I'm actually gonna go Ryzen next week when the motherboards restock since I game at 4k I won't lose many frames, if any and everywhere else it's definitely better than my aging 2600k.

And that's the price you paid without the monitor!? By my calculations you could have built for about $2k.

Yeah, and it might be sort of worth if they had some custom water cooling solution for both the 1080 and the proc with the glowy tubes and led water blocks or some shit, but even thats an off the shelf all in one. So where is this extra grand going? Assembly? A "cool" case?

I wonder what their custom "Hydralux" cooling would be? Another grand? LOL

I mean its cool if you have cash and dont want to spend the 2 hrs to build, but whatever.
