For the amount he overpaid he could have added another 1080ti and upgraded that monitor to the 4k version.

Who was that guy that ordered the 16k computer on here that came in a fucking military looking crate?

It looked insane but I still wouldn't have paid that when I could have paid my vehicle off.

Yeah, I mean I get paying a premium to not have to assemble it yourself, but when it's like 40 percent that's just dumb unless you're making Bill Gates money.

You'll love the 1080 Ti, though probably overkill at that resolution. I went from 45 to 55 fps medium'ish settings in The Division @ 4k to a pretty much constant 60 fps high @ 4k. It's awesome.

Fool and their money are soon parted.

And I say that as the owner of a shiny new 1080 Ti.

I bought a computer from Origin PC a few months ago. A truer statement there never was. I've never experienced buyer's remorse until now.

Obviously the experience in even getting the computer in working order is part of it, but after a few months, what else has been the problem?

So i5s are basically irrelevant now with R5 1600x. Either you are budget limited and get a 1600x or can spend the money and get a 7700K.

Apparently so from all the review I've read today. Pretty nice to have some competition again. Wonder what Intel will do in response.

Looks like I'm probably going to build a 1600/1600X machine a bit later this year.

The X's are a waste of money if you're a home user. The only reason to not get the 1600 vs 1600X is if you have no control of the overclocking. Virtually every single Ryzen chip up and down the range can be pegged at 3.8 GHZ all-core overclock at stock voltages (or significantly below) and left alone, at best the X might give you 50-100 mhz headroom. If I could do it over again, I would have dumped the 1700X for the 1700 - and X370 for B350 motherboards. XFR is more of the same - useless if you can spend 30 seconds opening Ryzen Master and tinkering.

I still think 1700s will pull well ahead of 7700k in the next 12-18 months, as developers begin using more than 4 threads in their code, and optimize better around the CCX structure... The pace of improvements over the last month has been dizzying, to the point that the latest bios updates have massively reduced that bottleneck. AMD's marketing is too inept to have ensured that these improvements filter through into the review/benchmarking pipeline, though.

Right now, Intel only has two chips with a reason to exist - Pentium G4560 and i7 7700k. The entire rest of their range is now obsolete.

This is getting sad.
