i just recently threw away my xboxdvd drive (you had to replace the xbox drive with a particular drive) cleaning out junk... still have over 20lbs in ac adapters tho
Anyone that has moved from a basic SSD to an NVMe drive for OS/Gaming care to comment on whether it provided any noticeable real-world difference?

Was playing Overwatch awhile back and a guy on my team asked me what was in my PC since I loaded into the game before him. Told him nothing special, Samsung 2.5” Evo, 1060, older i7. He said that was surprising as he had just built a new box with nvme. We were talking and figured out it was me running lower resolution than him with lower detail settings. Less data to load into vram.
Nvme is not a game changer compared to a regular SSD. Maybe an Intel Optane 3D Xpoint or whatever they are calling them today, you may notice an improvement, but that would probably be more for writing data.

I dicked around with DRAM Calculator and manual timings for a few weeks before I tried the non-XMP presets on my MSI Ace--turns out I get the best no-error performance from those presets.
I have read that Asus has very good RAM presets (special made by TheStilt at overclock.net), if you've got one of their boards.
Also the 1.0.0.4 BIOS full releases are starting to come out today.

Yeah, I doubt I'll get one, but I do need some more storage and was considering splurging for a 2TB nvme if I could get some better speeds for gaming/os. Not worth the extra $150 or so just to knock off a tiny bit of load times, though.

Right nowI have a 256 SSD for OS and a 512 SSD for games, and then a couple of platter drives for mass storage and its perfect. Games can be easily moved between drives and I only really play 1-2 one at a time anyway. I dont even think you need 1-2 TB unless you play a fuck ton of games. But at the same time, 1 tb SSD is now what 256 GB cost when I got mine sooo...
Its funny too because right now im playing a ton of Destiny 2 and Im 99% the first to load into any matchmade activity. Sometimes I have to wait in upwards of a min to see others zone in. So while yes you will load fast, im still reliant on others slow asses to load in anyway.
