Funny you say that. I tried playing at just a high frame rate with no Free-sync. I also played at 60FPS capped, with Fress-sync on, and Free-sync wins every time. Even in FPS. Not sure why. So I decided to give this a shot anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean as Freesync works with high refresh rates too. And a capped 60 fps isn't going to need Freesync.

Are you maybe thinking of vsync?

No. Some games I can set a FPS cap of 60, like MHW. Leave Freesync on.

You should check out the one I got. It's 34" with freesync / gsync and it's 144hz.

Link? I'm just trying them all till one really sticks out. The current 43" Acer I have now is fabulous for gaming...But I need a taller display for work.

Right, but why would you turn it off with higher fps? Half of Freesyncs purpose is to smooth out fps fluctuations and make things as smooth as they would be at a constant rate like capped 60,but you also get the smoother rates from the higher fpa

Oh! Just to see if those 75Hz monitors were worth even trying out. Like you said I am ecstatic about my 120Hz, Free-sync. If 75Hz is playable is all.

Ahh, so you were testing if you could live with 75fps in order to gain other specs. I gotcha now

This is the one I got:

Amazon product ASIN B07V4H1FLF
This LG is supposed to be its competitor:

Amazon product ASIN B0798Q8KG4
These are (from what I gather) two of the best at 34" ultrawide for gaming.

Yeah, the 34gk950 is considered to be the second best ultrawide around right now if you don't get hit by a bad panel (which has been common for LG lately with this and other panels)

Above it is the stupidly expensive and understocked new 38gl950g

Brahma Brahma just keep in mind if you're cherry picking monitors through amazon by ordering a bunch and returning the undesirable ones, that amazon does have a policy about excessive returns they don't advertise and will act on it in situations where you trigger a variable on your account that says you're unprofitable due to it. I skirted close to it once myself and was gettinf not-so-subtle warnings via email from them. Not sure where you're ordering from but i figure I'd mention it as amazon is a likely source.

Woah! Didn't know this. Although I do tend to get big ticket items from them. Wonder what that threshold is.

Nobody knows. Best I've been able to find is that it's based on the invidual user's purchase history, and if they're prime members. They don't mind if you're still a net positive, but returning a half dozen monitors or so which would cost them X amount of dollars in loss to sell them open box would deduct from your stats. In my case I returned a rift, a monitor, and a couple 100-200 items within a 6 month period and they started emailing me to ask if they could help as they noticed a large amount of returns.

Got my MSI MPG27GC today. Every monitor I've ever owned was 60hz 1920-1080 and usually I got them clearance for 100-120.
I knew being $370 it would probably look better and have a few more features but holy shit.
Even running Atlas on all ultra maxed out on 2560x1440 at 70 fps ( and pushing close to the 144 hz ) made that turd look unreal. I sat on the shore looking at the ocean and it was like watching a real screensaver of the ocean.
Now instead of playing games I just want to load games and see how pretty they actually are between the video card/monitor.
Not only the image quality but the damn options is nuts too. The monitor has more jacks than my damn 4k tv does and settings are deep.
I can't imagine dropping the $1000 which I guess this one was like $700 when it came out in April 2018 but it was a larger visual and function difference than I was expecting.
Still waiting on those 10 bit panels that has been in review videos and spec'd out for months to hit retail. Those will be hitting >100% color and the jump from 16 million to 1 billion colors will be nuts. I think Samsung's is out already which makes sense due to the fact most panels will be using Samsung and branded with their own features/chips, but now I think I just may use this one for the next year till the kinks get worked out of the 10bit panels and just enjoy what I got.

Next up, getting a Secret Labs chair. The only thing now that isn't brand new in my whole setup is my logitech g633 headphones, my g502 mouse and my razer chroma keyboard. All 3 are >2 years old now but functioning at like new for now. Now that I use a momoa boom mic, I need to find better headphones and no worry about the mic. Pretty sure if the mouse went I've just get Logitech to replace it. I'm lost on keyboards. I wish I had one much quieter though. It sounds like a horse trotting when I type.

Can verify this. Sad thing is it was Amazon's fault in my case where they sent me the wrong shit several times over a few months. Went from instant credit on returns to hey we need our shit back before we give you anything.
Also I had bought multiple echos, fire sticks, and fire 10s past 2 years on the 5 payment thing. I changed CC during one month and 3 failed to charge until I updated info. Have spent >5k at Amazon since then and they still don't offer me 5 payments anymore even though I fixed the billing issue as soon as they emailed me over a year ago. Amazon is weird like that. My Prime Wardrobe order last week had a return shipping by 12/25 midnight or be charged for all clothing. Ya, that would have been a perfect day to try and get to a UPS store...

Also glad I grabbed my cpu when it was $338. They are back up to $379+ everywhere now again. Not sure why they did the end of the year sales trick. Don't most places have odd quarterly periods that don't end on 12/31?

Replaced some 6 year old fans that wore out and shit today and put in the extra ssd I had. Ultimate lazy. I thought it was funny since the SSD is just sitting there and it doesn't matter really.

I have no reason to get a new case but in the era of ssd these big disk racks are a complete waste of space.

You need a new case and a NAS.
