Because that fan/drive cage situation is a clusterfuck. It must be noisy as fuck.

The NAS was mostly a joke.

I really like my new case, it is by far the best thing about my new build. The two SSD mounts in the rear really free up a lot of space and the two 200MM fans are ultra-quiet and move a lot of air.

The smaller the fan the higher the RPM and therefore the higher pitch of the noise.

I love my HAF XB Evo. I replaced all the crap fans with Noctua somethings. It's quiet and everything takes seconds to do.

What case do you have btw?

My PC is the quietest pc I've ever heard, and it's all on air. Just some Corsair carbide case. Never makes any noise at all

Datavac. Never buy a can of compressed air again. Gets everything spotless. Dust outside if your case is really dusty because it will fill your room with a giant dust cloud otherwise. It is also handy for blowing off various SMT devices that the computer probably didn't need anyway.

After searching a while for some affordable speaker stands for the desk, I decided to try the oft-suggested yoga blocks and they're shockingly good for such a low price. It helps get them close to ear level and isolate some of the vibrations from travelling through the desk. They don't look half bad either.

Asked before but now with some research lol.

I think I am leaning toward the Ryzen 3900x.. benchmarks, it win-out on most everything by a bit with only a loss in 10-20 frames when it comes to gaming with the i9 9900k. Seems more beneficial regarding both camps of games and work. I want to do 3950x but the price per power doesn't really seem worth it?? Considerable to wait for the next gen, but shit; I feel I need a new one now lol.

According to bottleneck calc,

I'm wondering what are the cons, or if I am just sweating nothing.. I technically play everything at "esport" settings, aside from AA.. so from my standpoint I feel as if it wouldn't matter; esp given the plan to hopefully upgrade the gpu at a later date. I was recommended by 2 other sources that I should cut costs on the 3900k, to go 3600 and get a GPU to match it.. resulting in far better improvements over all. The aim at the higher end CPU is to help workflow with adobe and autodesk.

Huh. This whole time I thought my first Gen Ryzen 7 1700 cpu was bottle necking my 1080Ti but according to that Calc it's not stressing out at all. Shiiieeeee

If it's going to help with work just get the better cpu, and then when you have the money get a better gpu imo

What makes you think it's bottlenecked?
Just from what I hear. Anecdotal that I'd need a 2000 series or even a 3000 series to get everything out of my 1080Ti. This could be just 1080Ti fan boys.

Also, along with that, I was like man, how come I can't push 144fps+ at max settings on every game I own?! I had hyped up the 1080ti a lot in my head prior to getting it.

I got to figure out how they use the term and determine bottlenecks. I'm sure the tools exist but for example in my old system I have a i5-4690- 5-6 years old now and my 2060 Super was hitting 98% GPU usage quite easily. Yet I saw on forums and such for upgrading when doing research people say it was only using like 70% of the 2060 super with same CPU.
That makes sense because FPS will go up considerably once I boot up the new system with same video card so I assume it has a lot more to do with things than just cpu/gpu processor activity.

It's simple to figure out what your bottleneck is when it comes to gpu or cpu. Install afterburner and RTSS and configure the overlay to include all the CPU core's usage %'s and GPU usage and play your game of choice without fps limits. If your GPU is running at 95% or higher, that's your bottleneck. If it isn't, and at least one CPU core is running at or spiking to 90% or higher, then that's your bottleneck. The results will vary game by game, and engine by engine. The FPS you play at will factor into the importance of either as well as CPU becomes vastly more important above 60fps, and the importance of single core performance will vary depending on the game as well. There are also a few engines or shitty console ports that can be the bottleneck due to shitty optimization, and will fail to utilize 100% of both.

Either platform is fine, though like I pointed out earlier, for your workloads and cpu considerations, Intel still comes out ahead. 3900x is a tiny bit cheaper than a 9900k, and so is the performance.

Is anyone using a air cool set up in their Lian Li O11 Dynamic? Only thing I can find is testing showing 3 intake fans on the side. Seems like this could be improved with 9 slots but I cannot find how. Lots of configurations are worse though.

Also thinking of trying a water cooling set up. Can you recommend one for my Ryzen 3600x and Lian Li?

Would prefer to stick with air cooling though.

If you're using the O-11 you should really be water cooling, unless you got the one they made for air. The case is designed for water cooling, and really doesn't do great on air.
