Anyone know of any other cases that utilize side ports rather than front or top? I love the In Win 900 series cases, but they seem to be more for liquid cooling builds.

What's that blue jizz in there?

Looks like water cooling cum.

I assume water cooling is basically brine anyway?

I've always assumed since that started to be a thing that if a hose leaks or develops a crack somewhere in the system you're going to have to replace the entire thing. But then if you can count on them to last for 3+ years I suppose it also is mostly moot, as you'll be replacing things before that part wears.

I had one of those moments talking to a friend about SSD's when they were still pretty new. He'd install games on them and I was like, "You're gonna brick that thing." And he was like "yeah, sure, in 2 years. I'm not gonna be using this drive for 2 years anyway, man."

Point taken.

People put special liquids with shit suspended in them for that look.

It breaks down within 3 months and the whole system turns to shit. It’s for youtubers and tech shows, not actual daily use.

I actually thought about doing a budget build myself as I don’t care about bleeding edge (or even close) at all. Then $3000 later that went out the door. I figured for once in my 30+ years of gaming it’d be fun to be at least in the top 20 percent and actually be able to use some of those cool graphics settings I read about and have no exact idea what they do. I tend to keep computers for 5ish years anyway.

It’ll be five years this year since I moved to the Bay Area and I’ve been using the same laptop I bought in 2014 for $800. That $370 desktop I’m sure even blows it out of the water.

Never got into water cooling. Seemed like a huge hassle and not worth it. But it sounded cool as hell when I was 16.

You sound like me a few years back. It really isn't a hassle now with the AIO setups. It took me all of an hour to get mine setup and working nicely.

My 16 yearold brain always wanted one that was completely submerged in mineral oil... but that is obviously a nightmare in a half. I saw one in a mall dedicated to computer parts and accessories in Bangkok around 2004.

As far as liquid cooling, is there really even much of a purpose outside of aesthetics and overclocking? I've convinced myself if I ever wanted to dive down a rabbit hole; it'd be on a crazy keyboard that exist beyond the mx cherry keys.

It's really just enthusiast level stuff. I was thinking about it the other day, because I've been wanting too do some custom loop stuff pretty bad. It's funny because I have the money and ability, and I will do it, but I rarely do enough gaming for it to matter. I just work too much and I'm too tired to take advantage of it. I'll definitely do it and see what I can do with overclock and benchmarking and stuff.

The performance difference from an aio to custom loops is generally not a ton. Something like maybe 5c and the cost jump is substantial. I think you noticed it more on the video card side of things than the CPU side

You'd pretty much have to water cool multiple linked GPUs due to the lack of clearance for airflow, but only a few games even benefit from that.

And these days, companies like EVGA will sell you a card with an AIO already attached to the gpu.

Pretty much it. Air cooling is cheaper also...especially if you go hard line.

Fuck...Will be years before Intel catches up. WTF can't they get their GPU game correct?

Already?

They should work on chipsets that don't require a fucking fan.

Fuck fans. Fuck water cooling...Step your game up kiddos!

When I worked at akamai we were told to come up with outlandish server designs. One was an entire rack of servers in liquid immersion. Turns out apple or Google already had racks in the fuckin ocean.

Trying to build some small PCs. Pretty much all they will be used for is watching streaming stuff and playing a few indie games. They do have to perform pretty snappy though in normal desktop tasks.

Are the Ryzen 3 APUs a good choice for this?
