The m.2 I listed is faster than that SSD if you care, for the same price. Uses pcie not sata

Otherwise looks good.
Good lookin out, but I’ve had terrible experiences with WD. Like never again kinda shit. Think I’ll find a PCIE model like you have though and upgrade a bit.
Decided to do a sleek black/white minimalist build, very light RGB on white components. Going with the Lian Li 011 Dynamic for my case.
That same Corsair power supply but in white is $300 more and apparently hard to find. JFC. That’s an insane mark up. I’m an aesthetics guy, but damn.

Curious what the blu-ray is for?

I still use mine for burning discs. 50GB of crap, pass it off to someone. Cheaper than thumb drives. I use it for movies on my HTPC. Also M-DISC - Wikipedia. Supposed to last a long time. Better than dye discs, anyway. 25GB is enough to back up stuff I want to keep.

Production stuff mostly. A surprising amount of things are still useful burned to a disc. Cheaper than worrying about a million flash drives or worrying about getting a flash drive back from someone.
Other real reason though is that my family, for whatever silly reason, has an insane collection of Blu Rays and DVDs. I'm aware of how much easier or better it is to download (read: steal) stuff or whatever, but the stuff I have on disc isn't going anywhere. No reason to use a shitload of data torrenting shit or streaming when I can just put a disc in.
Also, I like physical things. I am probably one of the last people in modern times that likes games on disc, etc...

m.2 speeds versus sata speeds in terms of SSD's are concerned is pretty moot. Yea, m.2 is faster, and it's all the rage, and I have m.2 drive myself for some games, and Windows, but if cost is an issue, you can get much more storage, for cheaper, and still have it on an SSD, if you go the SATA route.

I would use my blu-ray player all the time if Windows 10 had built in blu-ray playing. How this is not a thing is stupid.

Having to hack the codec into VLC is a bitch.

Thanks, so, much, for the, input, Crone.

Just kidding lmao. Yeah after doing some digging, you're right but ultimately I think I'm going to go with this Samsung m.2 2280 (970?) 1TB SSD. I got a deal at $140, hard to pass up. Going to put in an extra 2TB hard drive since those are relatively affordable now. $50-60 is nothing for storage like that. Last time I looked at prices for 2TB HD the shit was like $500. Things change so quickly sometimes with tech, I feel like a complete dumbass learning things all over. Picking it up quickly though.

All in all, doing a 3700X with 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM. 570X Asus MOBO. Corsair 750W Power Supply. 2070 Super from GIGABYTE, I like the triple fan. I hope it's not just marketing bullshit, as it seems like it helps the air flow. NH-U12S Noctua fan most likely, only piece at this point that is still somewhat up in the air. All packing into a Lian Li 011 Dynamic case in white. RAM/GFX card and whatever other pieces I can reasonbly find will also be in white. Rest in black for a B/W minimalist combo. Any LEDs will be changed to a soft white or whatever looks good, no bright rainbow RGB shit. Razer Mercury edition mouse. Razer Blackwidow KB with all the keys replaced to be Razer Mercury White, so the steel case of the keyboard is gunmetal blackish and the keys will be a white matching the mouse. I already owned the keyboard, so the keys were only $30.

Ending up spending a bit more money than I said I would. I assume this happens to everyone. Everytime I think 'this is it' and get ready to pull the trigger, I find something to upgrade or some excuse to spend $40-60 somewhere on something and justify it somehow. Lol.

Now to account for shipping costs and wait for it all to come together and finish this shit. Sad thing is, first games I'm going to load and play are old as fuck with shitty graphics and I have accepted that I hate myself for it lmao, is what it is. DoTA, Final Fantasy Tactics emulation, old CRPGs and Pillars of Eternity, ahhh...can't wait. I will absolutely max this thing out when Cyberpunk and shit comes out though.

Thanks to everyone for the help, I went from remembering jack all about any of this shit to getting very close to my dream build in a very short amount of time. Hell yeah.

edit; also thanks for steering me towards the 3700X. Looks like I really got a deal and that's exactly the performance I need. Biting the bullet with Windows 10 sucks dick but whatever. I'll mod the fuck out of it.

That's solid as hell. I have basically the same thing and it kicks the llama's ass.

Forget paying a lot for Windows 10 Pro key. Grab one from Ebay for like $5. I've been using them for a long time, and MS hasn't shut the keys down.

Thanks for reminding me to make sure WinAmp is one of my first downloads. WHIP

Couldn’t be more pumped, haven’t been this excited to have a proper PC in my entire life. Could never afford it.

definitely grabbing the cheapest fuck all Windows key I can find and run it to the ground. If it gets clipped and locked, whatever. I’ll do something else. Trying to learn Linux anyway.

Nice man! Basically same build but I went with the 3900x because I'm retarded as fuck.

The reason I mentioned the m.2 was it was the same price as your ssd and wanted to point that out. There's also the benefit that it just screws into the board and you don't see it.

Post pics when you build it!

If you need help OC/fixing timing on that RAM when you get it just post here and I can help out. Took a lot of work to get mine to 3600 CL14

I have the 1TB version of this as my 3rd NVME. The 500GB version definitely worth $60 for a C:
