My Current Setup is two 32" Odysseys stacked in the middle and two 27" Asus Vertical (one on each side). Odd setup, but it is very helpful for my occupation, I only game on the lower Odyssey, but when working I tend to have 7-8 different windows/apps I reference at a time. This setup saves paper which means I have less to store in my home office.

With the Ark, I think I will keep one 27" on the right side, so when I game i can have other apps visible (Discord, YouTube, Pandora, FiresOfHeaven, PornHub etc.)

4090 is overkill for 90% of the shit out there and its still bottlenecked by some other computer components that are top of the line in their field. I got CP2077 with max settings and played that, and it looked gorgeous. But it was still averaging out at like 58 FPS with everything on. Thats not "terrible" but I couldnt really see the difference in a lot of the top end settings. I mean the difference is miniscule compared to the other software tech that you can use, and the new shit demands so much more from the system that I dont think its worth it. So 4090 is nice, but I just dont think I needed it "bad enough" unlike you with a 2080. I think you'll be fine with a 4080, but if you're trying to save some dough - you can probably wait to the 50x0 series and just buy a 40x0 series that much cheaper.
Yes, I was hot for the 2080 as I had never had the top tier graphics card out in the market before. All previous purchases were a tier or two below the newest best GPU. Money wasted? Maybe, it was great early on and now it is more than serviceable for most games. That said I can see/feel its age in comparison to current cards. I think I am leaning toward a 7900 and so now I have to decide on a CPU, Intel or AMD? Suggestions?

Yea, down to $1800... But unfortunately I have a hard time justifying a VA panel without seeing it first. Every time I've been to microcenter it's off.

My Current Monitor I game on is a Samsung Odyssey G7 32" and I love it. My Next monitor Purchase will be the Ark 55".

Side note, with the rumors starting about the 5090 coming (soonish) I wonder if i should wait and see if 4080/4090s drop in price.
Well nm then. Might be worth it go with the 4090 if that's the case.

Iirc Nvidias 5000 series isn't due out til early next year.

At this point no reason not to wait on the cpu. AMD is supposed to be releasing their 9000 series including 3d versions in the next 2-3 months.

If you don't want to wait, 100% get a 7800x 3d. It's faster in the majority of games and on top of that consumes 100-135 less watts of power at the same time.

At this point, I still kind of need 4090+ performance for my next machine for my simrig. 3 monitors or VR is still taxing.

The biggest worry these days is getting a reliable mobo. Can usually figure out with some research which GPU brands have the coil whine, lesser coolers, etc to avoid trouble. The rest is simply plug and play, you will be hating on Windows 11 far more than caring about some measly % differences on other parts. Get the mobo and GPU right.

Not about being a afraid or a "bitch," it is about the hassle factor. My life is too busy to troubleshoot a pc problem, if I have a warranty from a pre-built it is their problem and their responsibility to make me happy. Not me trying to find time in my day to deal with yet another fucking issue. Also, it seems like building a PC is easier than ever, the last PC I built was 11ish years ago and I built 4 before that one.

*shrug* I've never had a problem when buying quality parts. Always have issues with prebuilt/OEM pcs.

Honestly, I am still undecided. Admittedly I am leaning toward a pre-built just for the time/hassle factor. I should have some free time in about two weeks to dig in to all the pricing and then make an educated decision. I was just coming here for some feedback on GPUs, CPUs and any decent recommendations on pre-builts. I will report back with my final decision, parts and total bill.

There are no quality parts anymore, that's the point. The days of the old bulletproof warranties like EVGAs are gone. Customer service is non-existent.

It's far easier to deal with a single company with a warranty than trying to deal with 8 different companies.

The ONLY way to save yourself a bit of that hassle is by buying everything through Amazon so you can replace the parts fast and then issue refund orders (which take weeks or months as well).

I literally just went through this with what were supposed to be reputable companies. Intel processor, MSI mobo, Corsair memory and CPU cooling unit. The warranties and customer service suck. I couldn't even get ASUS to respond to me about the GPU (a 4070ti). All of these parts were purchased in November 2023 and I still got the run around.

The only old part of this build that is old is my 10 year old Seasonic PSU which is still under warranty because I spent the money on a platinum which has a 12 year warranty that doesn't exist anymore. And I'm not even sure that will get honored at this point.

There are very literally untold amounts of videos about the customer service and warranty problems across the industry on YouTube about this.

Depends, sometimes. That G.Skill memory I talked about RMA'ing was RMA'd just fine from G. Skill and it was bought through some fucking weirdo 3rd party. G. Skill could have emailed me back and said that some new sticks are on their way, but .. I got them back eventually. I now have backup memory in case these new ones fail for some reason.

This right here. I didnt spend a whole lot on the motherboard I got from MSI. I looked at its feature set, the type of lane separation it had, and the generation of some of the chip sets that it supported. The Motherboard was around 240, which is still expensive in my book - but no where near the behemoth that has 8 different nvme slots, with 15 different hookups for this that and everything else for 900 bucks. The motherboard isnt necesarrily bad, its just the fact that it sucks fucking donkey dick at telling you what the fuck is actually wrong when something is wrong. "Ok, Ive got a flashing light thats yellow. What does that mean? Oh.. Yellow means it could be this type, or that type. How many times did it flash before restarted? I dont fucking know.. gahhh damnit, its behind this fucking monster of a video card. Let me unseat this 2000 dollar fucking thing so I can see this fucking light and stare at it."

returning shit not sold by amazon is usually a hassle, 50/50 they are skeevy and use usps return shipping, no paid, (you pay) and they will take a long time to refund, or they'll just hope you forgot and won't refund at all or give a partial refund

whereas if its sold by amazon, easy return to kohls/ups and refund the same day (sometimes it's automatic and i get refunded before i get in my car)

I downgraded from 4090 to 7900XTX and everything is still business as usual. My gaming has shrunk so much since my 20s that if i didnt build for kicks id never be on a desktop again. Hey fuck buying a prebuilt you can buy my rig! Im sure it will cost less(maybe not!) and be better built!

No worries bro, i used super glue on the back of 3.5 brackets to hold more drives.

Youd be surprised at what glue can do!

I've kinda mapped out my next build - and some of the cases shown have potential for intrigue, but im going to attempt to not spend 7k since i do have some of my other water cooling parts.

intel whatever its called
5090 FE
MSI boardsomething
ddr 9000 if they have it by then

Im going to have so many FPS in TFT.

Don't buy any Deepcool stuff if you are in the US, their parent Chinese company was selling to sanctioned Russian counterparts for use in datacenters and now they are shut down here.
