Got a Microcenter near you? If so this is a good snatch...

Then you can snatch up a 4060ti or 5060ti when it comes out. Best of all its AM5 so you can float in a better chip down the line if you want. But the 7700 ddoes well in games even though it does not have the cache. Its what my kid was gonna get but they were out of the mo-bo so he decided on the 7600X3D bundle they had for $50 more.

The bundles are great because youre essentially getting the mo-bo for free. IF you have one close by, that is. Perfect mid/high system and you can keep your case, your drives, even your 2070 although its getting kinda old by now.
microcenter also puts their deals on amazon too

I asked a dude at Micro why they only had this stuff in person one time and he told me that they can only offer that shit in store because it gets people in there and some just cant help themselves and buy more shit.

Yo i heard this board killed CPUs so bad that they stopped shipping them to the states - i was wondering why only ebay/china has the board at all - Nah i feel triggered to build something but i just shrank down to mATX and i really do like the LianLi A3. However if i switch to 7800X3D or 9800X3D id go back full size because board selection for mATX is rather weak and i tend to jump on every new gen like a pornstar on the D. I cant be waiting months after a new gen for a mATX board to be released.
The other problem is that the X870(e) stuff isn't really all that impressive itself. I'm probably just going to get another B650 mATX/ITX board and call it a day. We're not at the point we're saturating PCIe 4.0 with 4090s, probably 50-60% fill at the moment. If you're constantly replacing the entire system each cycle, "future proofing" with 5.0 seems pointless.

And if you're using multiple drives, it still splits lanes off of the PCIe 90% of the boards.

I'm waiting for new GPUs as well, trying to build a dedicated computer for my sim rig. So I want to just full replace my current desktop and move it over to that duty.

So no one ever answered my question about if PC parts actually go on sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday anymore. I know for a while there it seemed like they just offer good prices year round and fuck stupid spending holidays.

To me, it doesn’t seem like it. Black Friday deals aren’t even good. They just mark stuff back up and then put it “on sale” for Black Friday. Then a week later it’s back to price to begin with. I’ve noticed this a lot on Amazon when they do Prime Day and such.

Prebuilts and laptops, yes. Parts not so much. If they do, it isn't enough to warrant a wait.

Fuuuucck I just built 2 systems that are essentially this but no where near that cheap of a cost. Unfortunately I am no where near a microcenter. For me that is probably a good thing.

Ok so serious question:
I am a middling PC user. I can build PC's and I know enough about non-MS OS's to be dangerous but most of my experience has been with Windows. I have a media PC I use to do various media stuff (handbrake , Calibre for my e-books, etc) and stock pile all my digital media that's probably all garbage now anyway. With Win 10 going away should I go the route of install 11 anyway by forcing it to use my hardware or look at one of the mainstream Linux OS's? It would probably be Ubuntu since I've used it the most.
I know part of the 'fun' of Linux is the fiddling but I don't want to 'fiddle' , I want to run shit and not have to spend an hour figuring out how to get the shit to run.

Unless its being forced onto you, you dont need to go to windows 11. I prefer it myself but i never had a reason not to upgrade to it.

Meh ending support means jack diddly in the grand scheme of things. I mean you have people still running on Win7 to this very date.

Random curiosity, I see some MC bundles for 7800X3D but have a non mATX mobo - ive tried every which way but cant seem to get a x3D with mATX at a discounted price. Any way to do it? I've never purchased a bundle from them as i never needed to so now that im interested im unsure how.

This right here. Windows 10 will just stop getting updates (if they don't push the date back again), but you can still use it.

Kajiimagi Kajiimagi , you can use something like Win11Debloat if you feel the need to update to Windows 11.
Thanks Denamian Denamian , that's awesome. I assume you run that after the OS is installed? I'll do more reading up tomorrow I'm to tired to think now.
I did use Rufus to remove all MS's checks for the install. The 2 I'm building are for people that are not computer savvy. The hardware build part is done and I got them to boot to BIOS. OS install starts tomorrow.

I'm considering just letting my media machine ride. Now I rarely even boot it up. My current gaming rig has so much redundant storage I don't really need it.

I've yet to use it myself, I've just heard that is one of the good tools for clearing crap out of Win 11. My only Win 11 machine is a Surface that I don't use much anymore now that I'm fully remote. I've always meant to get around to trying some of the debloating tools on it.

Just stick with W10 until you can't. From there, go W11. By then debloat tools will be better.

For Linux, grab whatever. There aren't any shit distros. I prefer Fedora w/ KDE Plasma desktop. 0 bullshit to deal with. Quick, easy install. Plasma is most like Windows desktop, so that's what I use. No fiddling. Ready to use after updates after first install. Takes 15 mins or so. Grab a cheap laptop to throw it on.
