I've yet to use it myself, I've just heard that is one of the good tools for clearing crap out of Win 11. My only Win 11 machine is a Surface that I don't use much anymore now that I'm fully remote. I've always meant to get around to trying some of the debloating tools on it.
it's good and has a lot of options to de-crap win11 (like put stuff back in)

Rufus (which I think someone here recommended) also works well for win 11. At least worked well for me when the media creation tool from Microsoft would not work. It allows customization of your install and lets you remove options / turn things off by default.

Default config the 9800X3D performance improvements seem to be what was expected from the Zen 5 arch and slightly higher clocks. Not sure if AMD learned its lesson from the Zen 5 launch and is giving truthful real-world performance numbers or if they are still rigging them, but they are claiming an average of +8% over 7800X3D.

The core changes are flipping the Vcache, so the cache is on the bottom, placing the cores closer to the IHS/cooler and making the vcache and CCD the same size, eliminating the need for structural/support silicon around the CCDs that hindered heat transfer. Lower temps means higher clocks (+200MHz single core, +500MHz multi core) and the ability to overclock.

If you get the latest Windows 10 LTSC version (21H2 IoT) it should have support until 2032. It's also the least annoying version to use because it's really just an enterprise version and has a bunch of things stripped out (like the store, ads, and the constant random desktop changes). It mostly stays out of your way like older versions of windows did.

/r/piracy should have all the details on how to get/activate it.

Meh ending support means jack diddly in the grand scheme of things. I mean you have people still running on Win7 to this very date.

Random curiosity, I see some MC bundles for 7800X3D but have a non mATX mobo - ive tried every which way but cant seem to get a x3D with mATX at a discounted price. Any way to do it? I've never purchased a bundle from them as i never needed to so now that im interested im unsure how.
It’s all in store for the bundles I believe. And since the 7800x3d is currently $30 over list price, I’d stay away until the 9800x3d drops.

$479 for the 9800x3D, more than $100 less than the 285k and slightly higher than the current price of the 7800 if you can find one.

Going to be the first time I day 1 buy a CPU.

Also fully overclockable and allegedly much better therms.

Currently have an AMD Radeon RX 5700, what is a decent GPU upgrade for about 300 these days? I prefer AMD because that is what my CPU is but Nvidia isn't a deal breaker.

at that price range you're looking at roughly the Radeon RX 7600 XT (could be ~330), the Geforce RTX 4060 (~300), and the Radeon RX 7600 (~270). I listed them in order of best to worse - all of them are totally fine for 1080p gaming.

6750XT will be faster than all three of those for around $330 (4060 16GB should be faster, but more $). This HUB review focuses on the 7600XT, but also has the 4060 8/16GB, 7600, and 6700XT to compare to. 6750XT will be +5% over the 6700XT, and turning on any RT heavy effect will move the 4060 to the top (except when the 4060 8GB runs out of VRAM, then it can tank unless settings are lowered).

It's been so long since I've had an AMD GPU. Are they worth a shit anymore?

I'd been looking at probably a 4070 (super?), but they're just so darned expensive. Considered a 4060, but I made that mistake with a 1060 a long time ago and it was kind of a letdown.

I think I'll probably go the 5700x3d route recommended here. Will end up having to do a new PSU, probably case (have a be quiet 500 series), and GPU. I need to check what my CPU fan is. It looks a lot like that peerless assassin, but maybe lots of people make ones with a similar designed heatsink and fan setup.

AMD GPUs and drivers are fine. They struggle with heavy RT effects and full path-tracing , but so does everything short of a 4090. Nvidia does have a better feature set (DLSS is better than FSR, NV Frame Gen is better than AMD FMF, etc). Regardless of brand, get at least 12GB of VRAM, though 16GB+ is better. 4070 Super is probably the only 4000 series Super model that was a decent upgrade over the non-Super - iow, it's a good choice if you are comfortable at that price point.

I bought a 7900XTX in February and have not regretted it one bit. RT effects amount to shiny water and my GPU does shiny water just fine. I realized with Nvidia it's the game is 'going' to get the new shiny software and it hits about 2 months after you beat it. Got off that treadmill mostly because life made me where I cannot afford to play the constant upgrade game.
Also didn't want to have to completely upgrade to a PSU that does that new power connector and I'm not entirely sure they have all the bugs worked out of it. Would not be surprised when the 5900 Geforce card launches for 2K that it has a different PSU connector.
Drivers have been completely fine. Weird niggles are for instance, Cyberpunk 2077 kept prompting me to update my driver but my driver was newer than what they prompted me to. My replay of RDR2 is doing the same thing. But the days of drives completely borking the whole PC are long gone and I went Nvidia the last 2 times because of that, well and overall speed.
