9700X 6% faster for $57 more. I'd get the 9700X. It runs cooler than 7700X and can get a nice air cooler for a lot less than that AIO you have listed. Ask Mist about which air cooler to get. Also Dell makes a nice screen. $199 for 165 Hz is sweet.
oh shit yea, Gravel Gravel youre getting ass raped on the arctic freezer 3, do you want black? mine was $90

Like I said, I just picked some shit with good reviews. I've got a peerless assassin, but I hate fan noise.

That's why I said if there's something I should change, lemme know. If you've used the newer Samsung drives and they suck shit, tell me get a WD black. Or whatever.

9700X is 65-watt CPU. I have a Noctua on my 5900X which is 105 watts, and it is silent. Also, water cooling doesn't necessarily mean quiet. I have a 7950X3D and a big EKWB AIO and the fans do get very busy keeping it cool under big loads.

Unless you know the water temp, those fans are just responding to the cpu package temp. And modern cpus are designed to overclock themselves to their thermal max, i.e. go straight to 80-90c as long as they have spare megahurts to get to that power draw.

I know all that. 7950X3D starts throttling at 89. Keeping it away from that temp takes fannnnnns. 9700X is breeze to cool with silent fans.

This is my MIL's PC with a peerless assassin. She's not going to game so built in video on the 7700 will be fine. Bit overkill actually. I really fell in love with that case.

Decided to go with the 9700x. 9800x3d's popped back up on Newegg earlier tonight as backordered (11/15 ETA), but wouldn't let me cancel any part of my order and I didn't want to order 2 cards and have to return one, so said fuck it and I'll just roll with it.

just get 64

it's so nice never having to worry about ram
It seems harder to get decent 48GB anyways.

The motherboard side really sucks because dollar-for-dollar, the Asrock Nova smokes everything else, but it's out of stock everywhere. There are people scalping a fucking motherboard for god's sake, all because the other clowns really thought people would be okay spending several hundred dollars just to split the GPU lanes with some bloody storage.

From my research on the X670(e) boards, some of the brands like Asus used Intel's internet module, which has tons of reports of issues that may or not be fixed, but seeing as how none of the board partners are using Intel's internet and switched to realtek, even they probably felt it wasn't worth the trouble (typical Intel).

FWIW I have an MSI X670E Tomahawk WIFI and I love it. Not sure/don't care if the lanes are split. It's fast as all hell. I don't use the WIFI so not sure who's module they used. I know nothing about Asrock. ASUS won't get another cent from me. Got burned on an intel mobo from them.

I do, and the problem is how if you look at that spreadsheet, some boards across manufacturers use the Intel LAN for wired connections.

Yeah, I the x870 Tomahawk is the successor and at least has somewhat sensible bifurcation, at least when compared to the more expensive boards like MSI's own carbon that splits the pcie 1 with storage:
- The USB4 ports share bandwidth with M.2_2 (5x4); they run at 5x2 if M.2_2 is occupied in x2 mode. If M.2_2 is set to x4 in the BIOS, the USB4 ports are fully disabled. M.2_2 is also disabled with Phoenix 2 CPUs. - PCI_E3 (4x4) shares bandwidth with M.2_3 (4x2); it runs at 4x2 if M.2_3 is occupied in x2 mode. If PCI_E3 is set to x4 in the BIOS, this will fully disable M.2_3.

MSI were amongst the smart ones who used Realtek for their LAN, and it's only the Intel devices that I have read problems with wired connections dropping out and requiring full reboots to fix.

Was able to pick this up which seems like a pretty good deal at $229.

I'll just leave this here. Make sure you get help setting it up.

EDIT: Oops I see you got a smaller one than the one I destroyed. Anyway , get help setting it up, they can be awkward.
